@ cvg: The second one is all right... if you want to smile on a photo you have to be in a happy mood, just trying, telling yourself that you will fail anyway won't help. If you have a good photographer he may help you by motivating you to smile but there is nothing more difficult than taking a picture of yourself without any source of motivation. Take a couple of photos while listening to your favorite songs or try to think of something you like, non concentrating an the shot (ps: The best photos are taken under the influence of little but not too much alcohol; it has a reason that models often request stuff like champagne at stressful shootings (and about this I actually am serious)).
