my classmates at UCLA are so fuckin ridiculously talented it makes me depressed that i'll never be as good as them.

here is a sampling of some of the artists and films that my etchasketch thing screened with at the year end showcase

thats made by joaquin, i met the guy he seems pretty cool. liked the etch thingy too. he's every bit as talented as shane acker, the ucla grad whose thesis film "9" got nominated for an oscar

i knew this guy erick real well we were in several of the same classes. hes a phenomenal animator and his experimental film that screened at the showcase was INCREDIBLE. hes also one of the best character animators ive ever seen

a dude in the workshop named david lamps made that. hes really good, has such a clean style. his actual films are like this game only in full FBF.

this is another kid i was in a few classes with, will. he's really talented, i like his whole calarts experimental vibe.

etch is done btw and will be posted on atom.com and other websites soon.
I have more of a life writing this review at 1145 pm than you guys do making these movies. . .

i loved them all but that last one was really neat to me because I always wanted to do my own painted animation along those lines

but yea I kinda have to agree erick oh is the best and i liked his movie the most but ye they are all good

and the crazy thing is ive seen erick make way better shit than anything in that reel

he was pissed at the year end showcase because the compression of his film was wrong and made it blurry on the big theater screen, but it was still amazing
I have more of a life writing this review at 1145 pm than you guys do making these movies. . .

Honestly I think most of us are better than these guys.


My favourite was Erik Oh too though. The only other one I even liked was  Joaquin's, which was well directed and had great atmosphere, but the animation was ass.

Someone make a rip off of Wanted where this animator is born with the ability to curve slopes in the graph editor in maya.

Be that as it may, Zekey, Rtil, Bug, even WPS when he tries and a couple others are all immensely talented animators and artists. And most of the work I see spilling out of schools these days doesn't even come close.
