Ok so, I know how to put sound in flash and all that stuff.
But one thing I'm confused about is how to make it a better quality when I ctrl + enter to play the movie.
and like, I'm meaning, it's good quality when I just play it normally but when i export the movie, it's horrible.
help?

Double click the sound file in the Library. It should bring up the properties box where you can change the quality of the sound when exported.

ohhh!
Thank you so much.

also, wat type is best for syncing? event, start, stop, or stream?

stream is the best. event and start will not work for syncing at all.

if you experience lagging, there's a little trick you can do.

create a blank mp3 file, run it through your entire cartoon set to "stream", and set its volume to 0 (so that if the quality is low you don't hear it clicking and popping). then turn all the other sounds to event. this will force the cartoon to keep the video on sync with sound at all times.

but keep in mind that now you will not be able to move your frames back and forth on the main timeline and hear the sounds, so set all your sounds to "event" when you are done with your cartoon, or if you're testing it, and set them to "stream" when you are working inside the FLA.

so thats if i experience lagging as in, out of sync?

and do you mean, leik, when I'm just working with it i have it stream but then set it to event? or is that only if theres lag?

yes, that's if you experience lagging as in out of sync.

if you resort to the silencer track, set to stream while you're working in the fla so you can hear the sounds on any frame instead of having to play it straight through (annoying). then set it to event when you're actually testing the SWF.

ah, so I should just use stream unless lag.
mk thanks
oh i was also wondering, how much kbps is good? for bit rate of sounds?
cos, for the toon, it's just one sound file (a song I made) and when i have it on stream the quality doesnt get better for some reason..

320kbps - Lossless Quality
192kbps - Good Quality (possibly CD-quality as I see these mainly on netlables)
128 - 160kbps - Decent Quality (majority of mp3s on the net)
96kbps - FM Quality
32kbps - AM Quality

I know that this is a no brainer, but bear in the mind that the higher the bit rate, the bigger the file.
I normally find with Flash that I can get away with about 48kbps for songs and sounds.

Yeah, flash does a really good job at compressing audio. i usually don't set it higher than 48 as it sounds excellent (to me) at that bitrate.
