Also my brother has an interview set up with Micheal Arias when he goes to Japan, and Arias is planning another movie so who knows, he might be able to get my brother a job but i higHLY DOUBT IT AHAHAHA.
Oh, wretched ephemeral race ... why do you compel me to tell you what it would be most expedient for you not to hear? What is best of all is utterly beyond your reach: not to be born, not to be, to be nothing. But the second best for you is—to die soon.

MRat

Hey pal, whats wrong with a movie where every characters legs look like piglegs?

You never know. Good luck to your brother, in any case.

Is this movie in theaters at all or will I need to hunt down a DVD?

Well my brother is talented you can look at some of his older work at http://eccentricsamurai.newgrounds.com but he doesn't have anywhere near the 2 years standard industry experience required to get a job as an animator, let alone in Japan. But like you said who knows, and I wish him the best of luck in his artistic endeavors. Especially considering if he becomes successful at all it will make it that much easier for me to get a job I guess.

However I have not seen Tekkonkinkreet but I want to see it, because it doesn't seem to be a conventional anime. Not that I hate anime like (bug seems to as well as f00d and others) but I really like unconventional stuff more.

sorry then does he just not like Tekkonkinkreet I guess?

I still want to see it no matter what anyone says, it seems interesting to me at least

tekkonkinkreet is not even anime. it's such a departure from the conventional style it's a far cry to call it anime i think

uhh not sure but do you want to say that every animation made in Japan is anime? That's so racist.

MRat

Technically, it IS anime. But I would agree with Rtil that I personally would look at it and think otherwise. It really doesn't feel like anime at all.

I did some reading though, and all the arrows point to it being anime all the same. However, if Japanese people made a movie of Spongebob in the original style, would you call is anime, Jazz?

When we are talking about shit like Totally Spies and Teen Titans, we do not call it anime, even if it's drawn in anime style, so I don't see why tekkonkinkreet would not be anime. It is Japanese animation by a Japanese animation company.

I know I'm late, but I finally saw it, truly amazing. I love the art style and the story was excellent, I think I even caught the little analogy. I forgot I was even watching a movie.

Yezzir. Because it was MADE in Japan. That was my whole basis for Tekkonkinkreet being anime anyway, even if it's not traditional anime style, it's anime regardless.

Well, the thing is, Spongebob is an American production, so no, it wouldn't be anime.

American cartoons  that are outsourced and animated in say, Japan, would not be anime, despite being "made" in Japan.
