Seeing Split this weekend but I just got back from Silence and it's definitely the best live action movie of 2016, and one of the best movies about religion, dialectics and culture clash ever, and Scorsese's best movie in years if not decades.

Tadanobu Asano and Issey Ogato both deserve supporting actor nominations but unfortunately they are disqualified for being Asian.

Definitely tops my list of... Shin Gojira... The Handmaiden... Rogue One and... 10 Cloverfield Lane I guess? 2016 was a really shit year for mainstream cinema aside from those five.

Definitely going to check out the novel and Shinoda's adaptation for comparison.
