Just got back from the Ottawa Animation Festival and saw some amazing stuff.

My two favorites were pieces from estonia, one was an undergrad film called Velodrool

And this other one called piano

Saw this one with some beautiful rendering:

these guys worked part time for 5 years on this film, the rendering apparently took a full year of work at the end though.

A friend of mine got this film in which used all improvised dialogue from some theatre friends of his:

this one reminded me a lot of alanthebox's old animations on newgrounds:

This guy who used to be an animation professor at my school made this silly autobiographical film with his wife

Saw some cool talks by disney and pixar, one was by the director of the new short that showed before finding dory (piper) and the other was by the director of the new short that's showing before Moana (called "inner workings"). Pretty cool talks with some nice advice nuggets and cool techniques they used to pull off the shorts but also just so insanely polished compared to the independent shorts competition films which were definitely the highlights of the screenings.

There were lots of other great films too. Got to meet a lot of really cool people, animators, students, and even ran into a guy from newgrounds who i met at pico day last year ( bob brewser who made "peck!" with emrox

overall going to the OIAF was a fucking amazing experience that I could not recommend enough. will definitely go again next year (and will hopefully be able to submit a few films!) you guys should come check it out if you can.

very cool stuff, thanks for sharing them
