Been a minute since we've had one of these.

What have you picked up so far?

Definitely watching Mayoiga, Luluco and Jojo. I dunno what else.

Here's hoping Mayoiga doesn't turn into Another retarded piefest.

Phoenix Wright anime sucks by the way.

I think I'll be into Luluco, Macross Delta, and definitely concrete revolutio even though it's kinda cheesy.

(Maybe Ragnastrike angels and the Shounen maid, it's hard to tell what things catch my eye without having a first episode to preview)

Also who's going to watch black aliens beat up asians

Bamyasi

I'd recommend checking out the first episode of Mayoiga. It seems promising.

Luluco will probably be the first Trigger anime I actually like from start to finish (aside from Inferno Cop. Fuck you KlK and LWA).

Urobuchi is writing CR S2 so maybe it will get better (a big maybe).

Also yes I'm probably definitely watching Shounen Maid.

Terraformars most likely not.

in order of hype/potential to disappoint me:

kiznaiver (first "real" trigger series production since KLK)
kabaneri of the iron fortress (studio wit's attempt at a steampunk SnK/killing their animation staff)
sailor moon crystal s3 (toei pls)
space patrol luluco (hiroyuki imaishi)
boku no hero academia ("the next big shonen" or so they say. nice art)
sakamoto desu ga? (mite b funny)
joker game (could bethis season's "rakugo" imo)
kuma miko (cute)
mayoiga (lots of hype around this one, but only trying it on recommendation)

chances are i will probably drop some of these but i'm definitely watching a lot more this season than i was in the winter. already saw the first ep of luluco, it's about as wacky as you'd expect from a Hiroyuki Imaishi directed anime. i think the short format works well for his hyperactive animation style

as an aside i am not watching jojo not because i'm not interested but because i'm about 50 episodes behind

Stu4U

literally everyone has a boner for the frog lady in boku no hero academia
i guess im watching that to see what the hype is all about.

don't get too excited as it hits just about every generic shounen trope in the books - but it hasn't reached naruto/bleach/dbz levels of stupidity in terms of power levels and plotholes (yet)

now if you like that kind of stuff it's fun. full of waifu material and lots of juicy fighting scenes. i haven't read all the manga not even close to it but tbh i think people are already overhyping it and i think we're all familiar with what damage that can do to enjoying anything

Gilthwixt

Boku no Hero Academia is fun. The cast is interesting and, at least for now, we don't have a boring Gary Stu MC that beats everything. He's pretty much a glass cannon and he gets punished for it.

I read a few chapters of Sakamoto desu ga? and chuckled, but idk how long that kind of schtick can last. Maybe it's better animated?

Lately though I've just been burnt out on anime adaptations of manga, they are rarely done well. Boku dake's ending was hilariously bad compared to the original.

dilly

Ace Attorney and SMC are going to be on my watch list

also maybe the first one about the college girl with the cat

<@reptilicus> am I in backwards land?
<@reptilicus> if i go to the toilet will poop go up into my rectum

Pixogon

I'm just here for jojokes bedazzled collisions part 4 and ushio and tora season 2
*Some witty quote that goes with everything*

Bamyasi

I'll might keep watching My Hero Academia even though it really isn't my cup of contemporary shounen (I prefer pretty haremshit).

Kuma Miko is pretty cute. I'll probably like it at least as much as Gingitsune and Kokkuri-san.

Mayoiga is still my favorite so far but it's still early to tell.

Ace Attorney
Would not recommend unless you like massive disappointment and uninspired shot for shot adaptations. Watching it just made me wish I was playing the games.

The new She and Her Cat was decent though. One of Shinkai's more tolerable attempts at storytelling.

pretty much this. good fun, good 'fus, and a protag that's not OP. worth a read and a watch

bd648

kuma miko is really fun. or at least the manga is. Sakamoto should be interesting to see animated and i'll think i will enjoy it for it's sheer insanity.

Joker Game is really good if you like spy fiction.

Also @Binary what are your thoughts on Δ?

zwimmy

I'll give the hero one a shot.

I don't think I could express it in words so:

and

[spoiler]

also looking for any macross frontier references because

and

Bomber

But on another note, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress was amazing and I went into it blind only because a japanese flower told me to.
Did this come out of nowhere or did everyone know it was going to be good?

Also Shounen Maid turned into extreme homogay within 13 minutes and I think I'm going to like it a lot unless it somehow turns into lucky star with men.

Hero Academia was fun for all of 5 minutes until I realized how forced it was that the kid wanted to be a hero, even though it still seems a little interesting I don't think I'll find myself enjoying it very much.

Edit: WHOA FUCK, KIZNAIVER IS REALLY GOOD HOW DOES TRIGGER DO IT

Kiznaiver has an interesting concept but spineless MCs aren't really my thing. Hopefully he gets better.

Luluco was great, Kuma Miko was cute but a little too weird. The friend who was streaming it for us also picked Konosuba and "And you thought there is never a girl online?" and they were pretty awful. The latter is just too impossible to believe even for an anime.

Bamyasi

Here's my hot opinions on this season's pickings so far:

Worth watching tier:
Mayoiga: I'm crushing on both MC and MC's love interest. I hope everyone lives.
Luluco: AOTS. Beautiful in every way and Trigger's best anime yet.
Kuma Miko: I thought it was cute why is it weird @Gilthwixt?
Joker Game: Spies make me wet.
Shounen Maid: Cute and relaxing. 7/10 would fall asleep to again.
Sakamoto desu ga?: Sakamoto makes me wet.
Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge: I like shows based off a single character trait.

Okay tier:
Boku no Hero Academia: It's okay.
Sousei no Onmyouji: Generic exorcist shounen #5834.
Bungou Stray Dogs: Will probably keep watching for the hamfisted literary references.
Kiznaiver: By far Trigger's second best anime of the season and fourth best overall.

Garbage tier:
Ace Attorney: Fuck it.

Yet to watch tier:
Everything else.

What do you guys like about Kiznaiver? My friends and I were convinced it was satire while watching. It could have been really good had the presentation been different but as it stands it's just laughably terrible imo.

I mean for a series this cute with a young heroine I was kind of offput by the lewdness which clearly means I don't belong on TBA but I guess I'm going to keep watching it anyway so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't like anything about it so far except the character designs and the premise.  The concept is the only reason I'm going to keep watching, because the MC is annoying and all of the characters are just old character archetypes blown out of proportion. One dude was basically Kamina but even more brash and that one girl was Nui but even more obnoxious.

Also, Kabaneri should be on your list. I watched the first episode twice and I'll probably see it again by Episode 2 because my friends haven't seen it yet.

I found it to be an experiment from trigger, seeing as a lot of the backgrounds were drawn very seriously in regards to Kill La Kill. The spineless MC didn't bother me as much because I was always wondering how he went from some kind of weird laboratory escapee to kid living a normal life. All in all I have a pretty high bullshit tolerance when it comes to watching anime so I could just be watching something terrible and liking it a lot.

Boku no Hero Academia: It's okay.

this was basically how i felt watching it, and i knew what was going to happen. i'm actually surprised they covered so little in the pilot. visually it's kind of a mess.. the colors are too saturated and the backgrounds are constantly competing for attention. the animation was also just okay. i expected more from an adaptation with this much anticipation built around it. some cute and funny moments but i don't care for the 'reaction shot' type gags they love to do so much in shonen. also too much crying.

keep in mind that Kiznaiver is an adaptation. Trigger can't really do their "thing" with this anime so you're not going to get the kind of shenanigans you'd typically expect from a Trigger original.

and that's why Luluco is so great. Imaishi is pretty fun when they let him off his leash.
