Those are two of the best though. What about them puts you off? The pacing? Chrono Cross takes a really long time to get going, like, longer than any modern game could do without blushing.

partly the tedious pacing, sure. both of those games demand more patience than i can concede to a videogame at this point in my life. i have this feeling like "i would have loved this crap 10-15 years ago, now its impossible to enjoy old games unless i feel nostalgia for them"

Yeah I can relate to that somewhat. It's not as hard with action games but with RPGs you know it's going to be 60+ hours dedicated to something you might not think is 60+ hours great.
