i like those super short stories. like 2 or 3 sentences long.

this one has always been one of my favorites

A young girl is playing in her bedroom when she hears her mother call to her from the kitchen, so she runs downstairs to meet her mother.

As she's running through the hallway, the door to the cupboard under the stairs opens, and a hand reaches out and pulls her in. It's her mother. She whispers to her child, "Don't go into the kitchen. I heard it too."

Also yeah that one you posted is great, but I feel it could be even shorter, like:

Then again 9 extra words probably don't seem like much to most people.

The one I always see quoted is: "The last man on Earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock on the door."

I wish I could find my favorite flash fiction story. It was from the perspective of a child wondering what they were going to be when the grew up, but all the possibilities were household appliances. It was really beautiful and I don't know why I never saved it.
