Friendly reminder that SDR2 comes out on Steam in a little less than a month so you still have time to do the right thing if you haven't yet.

Well since you're all scrubs and didn't play the first one I'll go ahead and write pros/cons for the second installment for posterity as I play to print every page of TBA and put it in a time capsule which will then be launched into space.

Pros:

  • The mechanics and minigames have all been improved upon (except, I would argue, navigation).
  • A full 8 or so hours longer than the first, which is definitely a plus, and might make you wish the first had been the same length.
  • Both best girl and best boy from the entire franchise make their appearance (two of the best characters from the entire AG medium imo).
  • Will take you out for a spaghetti dinner and fine wine without expecting sex in return but you still put out even though you ate so much and feel a bit heavy and unattractive, but SDR2 still likes you the way you are.
  • Makes you cool.
  • Makes you fly (synonym for cool but also literally).
  • Will win you favor with that girl/boy you like (also me if that doesn't work out).
  • Will make you cry every time (and not just from crushing loneliness).
Cons:

  • I didn't care for the side-scrolling much at first but it grew on me somewhat.
  • Some narrative missteps (imo) and also generally crasser than the first, which I quickly got over.
  • Worst girl is also an unfortunate addition to an otherwise likeable cast (you'll know her when you see her).
  • A lot of the music is recycled from the first game, but remixed well, and the new tracks are equally as good if not better. Forgivable as sequels in this genre tend to be pretty iterative, and this is no exception.
  • Might make you vomit (I did at one part so that was weird I guess).
  • Its only real flaw is that it's literally flawless.
