I'm doing what everyone else are doing. Making a topic with all my art instead of many.

Starting with this drawing of my character Maxi. I made the sketch not too long ago and people on SA wanted me to lineart and colour it, so I did.

I'm having troubles with getting colors and shading right though :/

Supposed to be a scar. Which actually has a reason to be there. Upcoming animation eventually.

For someone who has a difficulty with shading and coloring, this does looks nice.  And sorry if I don't comment on SA, my laptop's being a bitch about me going onto that site so praise whoever that I can at least check it out here.  :\  Anyways, the colors are nice on the eyes, and the fact that you didn't use a black lineart/outline for the piece helps with the combination of the colors.  But what makes me curious is the fact that the ear looks detachable.  O___O  I have no idea why, I guess it's the lining of the ear where it touches the slight sideburn.  There's a slight space that makes me think that the ear was stuck on, or I'm being a picky bastard.

I believe it's the latter.  XD  And an animation?  I look forward to seeing it.

nice color choices. i feel like the light source changes from piece to piece. pick a definitive light source and make sure all the shading and tones match it. also, if you're going to animate these characters, i suggest doing more of a cel-shaded style in case if you haven't already - just to make sure you know you've got the geometry of his body down. and because i like cel coloring

What exactly is a cel-shaded style?  I'm still new to all of this, so I'm sorry if I'm utterly clueless with such terms.  @___@

rtil

cel-shading is talking about what painters did in animation when they painted a transparent frame, or cel. to keep consistency in shading they used hard edges for tones instead of doing blending, otherwise keeping the blending consistent from frame to frame would have been impossible. basically, it's the opposite of soft shading.
in a painting, a combination of both is usually the most successful, as not all edges are all soft or all hard.

Wow. O___O  Thank you for the thorough explanation.  That really helps.

Thanks.
I don't really know what you mean about the ear. I've always drawn ears like that so I guess I never thought about it.
As for the animation, I haven't started it yet. I'm doing other projects right now. Although the script is done. I'd also need some voice actors :/.

Thank you.
Ah yeah, I don't plan my drawings too much so I know you're right on that one.
Also I do make cell-shading in animation, this was more of an practice really. I do have some cell-shading pictures too and I might practice that as well later on.
All and all, I got yah. Thank you.

the shading on the hair is cool
i am dead

<+wwchicken> once i walked into the kitchen and there was a sound
<+wwchicken> but i could only hear it when i stood on one spot in the kitchen
<+wwchicken> then i turned off the light
<+wwchicken> and it was gone
<+wwchicken> then i turned the light back on and there it was again
<+wwchicken> so i thought, its an invisible alien
<+wwchicken> but hes scared of the dark

in case you actually wanted criticism that makes sense i would say that the nose doesnt make any sense, the elbow is too high, the jaw is too flat, and that the hair's shape is weird

MRat

taylor says what I think. The elbow is quite weird. Otherwise I find it pretty spiffy. Would be quite neat to see him in an animation. I like the shading rather well actually.

Though like Rtil I'm actually quite fond of cel-shading.

I got really tired of coloring this thing, so I went lazy in the end and rushed the characters coloring.

That is Rtil btw. He drew himself like that once and I found that rather cool.

the outlines that are supposed to be the creasings of his pants stand out too much
and whats up with the sun it looks kind of low quality compared to the rest of the picture
