This is an interesting documentary about ISIS. It's interesting how they seem so normal and used to all the violence, and it's even crazier how so many intelligent, bourgeois, and Western-educated people there are among them.

So basically they're the logical endgame of our occupation of Iraq, deliberate destabilization of Syria, and every other nefarious Christian military operation in the middle east dating back to the Crusades. Great going USA. Still, as the RayBan sporting, cellphone wielding denouement to the Islamic struggle against capitalist globalization, their jihad is of tragicomic flair, regardless if they succeed or not. That said, I do sympathize with their anger and found parts of this documentary pretty moving. Thanks for posting.

Who's ready for the series finale of Humanity? :D
Let's just hope it's on par with the finale of School Days as far as sudden, unexpected explosions of violence go.

well erosion of the central power always entails the inception of a substitute that seeks to replace it

isis is neither new nor genuine

the mechanism of the iraqi revolution adheres to the same rigid rules every other one in history did

just like the french masses perceived louis xvi and the aristocracy as the culprits of the predicaments france had to face so arabs do in the christian/western invaders so in turn they have to find an ideology that would unite them and defy the oppressors

i think movements like xviii century liberalism/militant communism and militant islamism are akin to each other despite the formers belligerent atheism because of them emphasising egalitarianism and internationalism (spreading the red revolution, pan-sunnism)

I see how IS isn't new, and I agree with your points about the Red Terror and militant communism, but if western imperialism isn't the culprit of their predicament, then what is? An estimated 110,000 to 120,000 civilian deaths in Iraq alone sure convinces me.

It seems like jihadist organizations like IS are basically the dying breath of old world traditionalism and religion. It's like they're defending a culture and way of life that they know is just fucking gone with the wind. Do you think that's their problem? The erosion of the old world by so called capitalist advancement? Or are you speaking from a more economic standpoint (I think you said you were studying economics so that would make sense)?

not necessarily

islamism we know today originated in  the  xix century

islam used to be a far more progressive religion than christianity and so were the arab societies in juxtaposition with western ones but thats another story

in the past terms such as nationality were vague and meaningless

rather than a pole i was merely the subject of the king of poland

following the conquest of the arab countries by europan powers/the ottomans the major factor that drove to unite the arab people against those who subjugated them was religion

nationalism we know in europe as in thausands years old NATION states are unknown to the arab people

the arab countries are untenable as they base on the legacy of various sultanates created in the past whose architects were the nobility. their citizens are probably devoid of patriotism because the contemporary arab world works exactly the same way, spearheaded by either intricate nomenklatura or ancient nobility that is still extant in countries such as saudi arabia or oman

hence the repudiation of them and the aim to create a pan sunni/pan arab caliphate which would probably be inherently more equitable and egalitarian

Wade is not gay, read his profile! It's sad that you would use sexual orientation as a joke, shows that you have no real sense of humor.

Is it just me or does the IS's besiegement of all those Christians and Yazidis kind of sound like a false flag.
