summer anime thread: pretentious tier list edition

Aren't there any good Shoujo anime coming out? Besides Love Stage of course, that looks cute.

i think everyone knows about this, but just in case , Sailor Moon Crystal is currently airing. besides some rough spots in the animation and consistency so far i think it's been very good. it's a faithful reboot based on the manga. Takeuchi is spearheading the project this time. episodes are released once every 2 weeks so the first season is going to last a year (26 eps)

and i don't know if any of these are good, but here's some others that are currently airing:

Dropping Akame ga Kill because honestly there's nothing about the anime adaptation that makes it stick out compared to the manga and it's hard enough to justify reading that as it is.

Picking up Aldnoah.Zero and Tokyo ESP instead.

dunno about the rest of the series but i watched the first episode and it was nothing like i was expecting, and in a bad way. it was a total clusterfuck. way too much shit going on, way too many characters, no sense of pacing, and some really weird animation and shading errors. not a good way to start a series, pretty much want to drop it right after that. just a warning

It wasn't what I was expecting either having read a few chapters of the Manga first but I should have known better.  This is from the same guy that did ga-rei, and the anime prequel ga-rei zero started off the same way with no sense of direction and lots of people dying. It's stupid but I think the idea is they front load alot of the action and violence in the pilot so you know what you're getting into. The first episode of Tokyo esp is actually chapter 23 of the manga; it also doesn't help that half the named characters were actually cameos from Ga-rei zero and have no relation to Tokyo esp's plot to begin with.  Watch episodes 2 & 3 before you reach a verdict, the pacing and story make a lot more sense.

The only thing Precure seems to be good for are scat Doujins. There are like 5 pages on ex.

I guess I got lulled into a sense of security with Gargantia, because this shit fucking blindsided me.

Edit:

Final Verdict - Summer 2014

Zankyou No Terror: 7/10 - Strong start but everything involving Five was really weak. Last episode might still save the series.

Tokyo Ghoul: 7.5/10 - Great animation and art but a massive failure as an adaptation. Terrible way of ending a season.

Sword Art: 6.5/10 - Good animation as usual, cliche as fuck writing.

Aldnoah Zero: 9/10 - Based Urobuchi, January can't come soon enough.

Sailor Moon: Usagi/10 - it still amuses me that anyone in the series thinks a tiara or thin white mask is a good disguise.

Haven't gotten around to finishing Space Dandy or Tokyo ESP because they've been kind of meh. Dropped Akame ga Kill because it's shit.
