About time, the only relevant part of the game is now open for beta testing. Anybody else thrilled?

It's really good

While I haven't tried it of course, I just can't see it being as fun as the plane aspects of the game. Hopefully they'll more or less prove me wrong

not particularly thrilled.. i mean i've played war thunder and it was alright, didn't really blow me away or anything. i never once thought to myself i would have rather been on the ground shooting at planes. i'm not even sure if that's what this is , but if it is i think i'll give it a pass.

its not wolfenstein, im not interested

"He was shown the smallness and tinsel emptiness of the little Earth gods, with their petty, human interests and connections - their hatreds, rages, loves and vanities; their craving for praise and sacrifice and their demands for faiths contrary to reason and nature."

"...it stimulates the part of the brain called "shatners-bassoon", and that's the bit of the brain that deals with...time perception..."

It's about destroying tanks. Each faction has an AA truck/halftrack, however, so you have a possibility of shooting down planes and even some really paper-thin tanks with those. Otherwise it's just tank destroyers, light tanks, etc.

well i like tanks. but i don't like world of tanks. so maybe i'll try it and hope it's not like world of tanks.

World of Tanks is awful because it started literally like this: Wargaming.net are in the process of making a generic fantasy MMO with a crappy MMO engine. Then one guy added a T-34 next to a knight and his friends thought it was hilarious, but some idiot thought "oh this is a GREAT idea let's make a tank game." They changed the plan to a tank game instead of a generic fantasy MMO, but they didn't change their engine.

This creates a million limitations with no apparent boons. It is true that they purchased the developers and the engine after a while, to access the source code, so they could remove a few tiny bits like an absolute speed limit (for vehicles) and a few tweaks, but some things cannot be changed without completely scratching the entire game and starting all over: tiny maps, projectiles having no volume and piss-poor physics. This is probably why you didn't like that awful game.

War Thunder, on the other hand, has enormous maps and there is no view range mechanism. I am sure that you were frustrated in WoT because of your commander apparently being a mole that cannot see farther than a few yards.

Not much else I should say, War Thunder is just technically more advanced and appropriate for what it tries to be. World of Tanks is not, it runs on garbage.

there's a lot of reasons why i don't like world of tanks, and i think my thoughts echo yours. it doesn't feel like they know what direction they want to take the game in. there's the f2p grind element, but then they want the game to be an esport, yet the game is full of imbalances. for a game all about tanks it could be a hell of a lot better.
