assuming he's running OSX or windows i am pretty sure you can't  fit on a 30gb drive. i run win 7 on my 500gb ssd and it goes from post to desktop in about 15 seconds.

2tb hdd for stuff
1tb hdd for stuff
500gb hdd for stuff
1tb hdd external for stuff but it's kind of dodgy, the charger 'exploded' once before and it took me ages to get a replacement from the manufacturer

ssd is great but i don't see the point in more than one due to capacity to money ratio being kind of shit

like rtil said maybe in 10 years when the price is lower and the capacity is improved

but for now i'd rather have 2+ tbs of hdd capacity than 500gb of ssd simply because of the volume of shit i keep installed

if i were to get a second ssd it would be for autocad/inventor stuff

ya that's the only real need for it currently, though the boot-up speed is lovely

i think back in february last year me and my cousin did some snooping around and the 250gb ssd was the best in terms of monetary value at the time, any bigger and the price would skyrocket and smaller just wouldn't be worth it

likewise i think the 2tb hdd was the best option when looking at combined stats like capacity, rpm and overall price

it's probably changed by now with new models coming in and old ones being phased out, but fuck me if having that 2tb drive doesn't make things piss easy, 1tb got kind of cramped quickly but 3tb leaves me with a lot of breathing room
