Just go see it, if you don't like it, you wasted a good 12 dollar that you could have bought with porn. oh well.

But it's actually a good film. Top notch animation from Disney, also the Internet gets this vibe that the ice queen's song is somewhat gay, as in the homosexual tendencies kind of way. I guess it's a gay happy movie too. In one word to describe this film it would be.

rtil

Can't believe I didn't see this. I'm such a flake.

Also has anyone else seen the original Lev Atamanov version? How do you think this compares?

of all things i'm actually curious about the supposed disney star wars movie

lucas kind of lost it on his old days, it can only get better

JasonDog

J. J. Abrams isn't very creative.
What makes you think it will be different from his Star Trek movies?

crackers

You were the chosen one JJ! It was said that you would save the franchise, not ruin it! You were to bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness.

it doesn't really matter though, does it? he's not the writer, he's in charge of directing. and he can direct exciting family action/adventure sci-fi flicks that people will go see. hell, he made Star Trek bankable to general audiences. Star Trek is supposed to be for nerds. he can easily do it for Star Wars.

Isn't SW's success due to its visuals and not its writing? As far as I can remember they never even explained what was wrong about the dark side of the force.
I didn't actually check its writers, they do look competent so hopefully they will produce a shooting script.

As for ST being a success, of course it was. He stripped it of everything but its brand and churned out an all guns blazing blockbuster. It would take a company like HBO to make something resembling the original show a success now.

rtil

well then isn't jj abrams a pretty good choice, then? he can make a visually compelling film.

the dark side of the force was giving into anger and hatred, which, according to them, allows you to be more powerful while sacrificing some part of your humanity. at least that's what i got from it.

the magic was ruined when lucas made up that shit about midichlorians. no one gives a fuck about that

JasonDog

I think he is a safe choice, and it will be a success.
Look, I don't know much about film criticism but has he produced anything quirky or anything similar to the quality of Star Wars: A new Hope and Empire strikes back?  Although the earlier SW films were blockbusters, the producers and directors at that time weren't steeped in that genre, they were passionate about the A-list and B-list films they grew up with and emulated their style towards what we know as the birth of the blockbuster today: Jaws, Indiana, SW ect.

Isn't there a lot of other decent directors around that seemingly have a lot of passion for the art of the blockbuster? Jackson, Duncan Jones, Nolan, Guillermo del toro. All of these are safe choices too, it's not like I'm asking for Terry Gilliam or M.Night.Shyamalan.

rtil

i don't see why jj wouldn't have passion for sci-fi blockbuster considering that he took on Trek. i'm sure it will turn out much better than Lucas' last three attempts.

Sith = stay up late, fuck bitches

Leave it to Sinitron to derail a thread into some completely unrelated argument. He didn't even have to have an opinion this time  :wile:

JJ Abram's Star Wars will likely be good. I actually really enjoyed his treatment of the Star Trek series (even if Into Darkness was kinda bad, but that might've been the writers' fault). I liked Super 8 and Cloverfield, I feel like he knows how to do Sci-Fi right in the 21st century, which is starting to get pretty rare sadly.

rtil

actually jasondog derailed this thread
