i think regardless of that it will still be purchased by millions of unsuspecting parents this holiday season

funzop

i think it will sell when it launches of course, but word has gotten around pretty quickly to anyone who even remotely cares. looking at this forum, other forums, the e3 conference's reactions, talking to friends, lurking 4chan e3 threads, etc., it seems that people unanimously feel contempt towards this thing, or feel contempt once they are told about DRM. if it launches the way it is, unchanged, anyone who knows anything about the product will avoid purchasing it. you would have to be, as you said, an unsuspecting parent, and those parents will figure out quickly when they try buying a used game disc and then suddenly their kid asks them for their credit card number to pay for the thing they just bought

or they will figure out when microsoft has a security breach and nudies of their kid are leaked

wait, where do you live? i didn't realize microsoft stores were spreading. they opened the first one in the world here about 2 years ago right next to a mac store. but then the mac store needed a bigger location and moved upstairs :wile:

I'm applying to work at the store in Burlington, MA (near boston).

im surprised they opened the first one only two years ago, you would think they'd try to compete with the apple stores a lot sooner than that, since those have been around over a decade now.

rtil

it may have been earlier than that, i don't go to the mall very often. but they haven't been around very long. i have bought one thing from the store and that was a monitor. all the devices have windows 8 now, so.. yeah.

I think the handheld market is going to get murdered by the ithing market in the next few years
Not if Glorious Nippon has anything to say about it.

I plan on purchasing a 3DS, so I hope that game ends up having cross platform compatibility

i looked it up and found a couple of people saying some different things, but the only really definitive sounding thing was- http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/13/wii-u-and-3ds-smash-bros-will-not-have-cross-platform-play-wil/
so uhh i guess we will see how that works out but yea i just got a 3ds for animal crossing and fire emblem and donkey kong and shit so i'd like for it to connect somehow

Gilthwixt

They said the 3DS and the Wii-U would have different stages based on the popular games for each. If there's no cross-platform play then I don't understand why they would limit the roster for the Wii U version just because there isn't enough room on the 3DS cartridge. Typically you make the console version the best version and then port what you can to the handeld, and with the 3DS having an SD card slot and internet connectivity I can't see why they wouldn't just have some characters be DLC. It's a handheld, people will buy it to play on the go, not because they're expecting a console quality experience.  That should've been obvious from how the 3DS is doing vs the PS Vita. /rant.

the  demo of that level and the  fish level looked so boring. they actually skipped a bunch of it because there's so much of nothing it would have bored the audience

"More like xbox 180"

QuoteMicrosoft has changed its policies regarding Xbox One's internet requirement, used game restrictions and more. Contrary to the details announced earlier this month, Xbox One will no longer require an internet connection or need to check in every 24 hours; instead, internet will only be required when initially setting up the console.

Xbox One will also no longer restrict used games, and will instead allow discs to be exchanged in the same way they are on Xbox 360 with no additional restrictions for trade-ins or lending games to friends. The system is also said to no longer be region locked and all downloaded games will function the same way whether your console is connected or not.

Microsoft's decision follows mass confusion following the announcement of Xbox One in May. At E3 last week, Sony announced similar policies for PlayStation 4, which will not require an internet connection or periodic authentication and does not restrict used games.

i find this somewhat surprising. this is embarrassing for them to have to do this. i think it shows that they care about money more than customers, though. they wouldn't have done this if it had backfired so badly.
