Does anyone know why tumblr sucks at noses? Is downplaying them a la modern anime considered oppressive?

it would be interesting to see how that trend started.

my best guess is that a couple of popular western tumblr artists took cues from mid-20th century american illustrators who would often paint a lot of stylized blush on children , and it slowly spiraled into the hilarious 'tumblr nose' drawn by many artists who have no idea why exactly they're doing it besides the fact they saw other artists do it.

some people on da (that saw the comic and are obviously guilty lol) kept mentioning the muppets like it was some kind of excuse

i personally think its just another dumb art affectation.

same with randomly putting blush on elbows and knees, until it looks like the character was dragged through a bush cold and naked

the problem with the muppet example is that it's literally a paste-on nose on a highly stylized character. it works because they're fucking muppets. when you draw a semi-realistic head and slap a shiny orange rhombus in the middle of their face that's just a shitty excuse for a nose.

i never got the adoptables thing. i'd be surprised if anyone actually did anything with characters they paid to "adopt" on deviantart. probably one of the dumbest ways to waste your money

originally she had tank track legs so the torso fitted into the cockpit but i gave up halfway
