I should probably watch it again because my interpretation of that line was much more nihilistic.
Perhaps the influx of tears was clouding my vision.
i thought it was very light-hearted because she seemed relieved and happy in that scene. when she laughed i hadn't heard her laugh like that before. i suppose it could go either way, but that's just how i interpret that scene.

Bamyasi

Wow yeah it's amazing how different that scene seems now. I guess with the rest of the show being so cathartic I didn't really pick up on that.

I'm not sure if I like it more now. Overcoming an ideal is one thing, but transcending loneliness and social anxiety I don't think is so easy. Anyway I won't ruin it for everyone else by reading too much into it. Plus, I think we all know we all know what the true ending really looks like.

rtil

she still has her demons to deal with, but i think she will approach it in a more healthier way from now on (in some alternate, non-existent universe where season 2 is made)

Bamyasi

That's a nice thought.
Too bad she's dead.
Bamyasi

Fund it.

Also is anyone watching either of Silver Link's new shows? I just finished the first episode of Non Non Biyori and I can only describe it as a healing experience.

season 2

I've been thinking that for quite a while now... if they are clever, there might be an attemt like that in the near future. The franchise obviously has most of its fans overseas and even though I am not sure how much support it will get it would be worth a try...
Japs apparently hated it for some reason, which is why you can find a lot of gore and scat shit online. Might have had too much recognition value for them to handle. I think it is amazing how something produced in their own country and in their language has most of its supporters abroad.

the only instance i can think of something similar happening is starcraft/starcraft 2 being made in the united states but finding more success in korea. more americans play it, but not per capita.

>starcraft 2
>success in korea

Bamyasi

I can name a few other anime that were more popular in the West than Japan.

Kött

Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Samurai Champloo; yes, but these weren't totally refused/hated by the Japanese audiences.

it was cute, i liked the story of the episode. they also put in a tiny hint at a 2nd season, but they were probably just fucking around
