Really depends on subject and situation I would say...

In regards to clothes, I usually prefer black over anything else... Generally, I've always fancied blue as my favorite color ever since I was a kid...  but over the past years I have discovered that this seemingly arbitrary personal taste has little relevance on my daily life... When it comes to art, I sometimes discover that I really love bright and colorful sceneries that are the exact opposite of what I'd usually declare my preferred colors and in real life I usually prefer certain standards that I am used to, such as white wallpaper, but again, even that can vary...

As some general mind provoking thought, I once read a book in which the female author described how much she loved the color of black women's pussy, later realizing that it was not the color itself that made it look so much different but in fact nothing but the stark contrast.

Grey.

I used to not give a shit and always replied blue when asked this. I got tired of saying that and switched to green for a few years, then blue again, and then orange or brown, and then blue again. (Most people like blue, so it seemed a safe choice.)
Then I heard an art teacher tell a student about how she uses a sheet of glass on a piece of wood painted gray as a palette and I realized I loved grey, it had just never seemed like an option.

I'm not even that dark and I still enjoy turning my hands over and over again to compare the tops to the palms.

i don't really have a favorite color.. there are colors that i use a lot when i paint, but a color on its own isn't as interesting unless it's surrounded, blended and mixed around with other colors to make a picture

Yes, I second this, I feel the same way about when I'm drawing or painting. Though, that said, I do additionally have a fondness for grey. Greyscale's fun to paint in.
