"...Suspended harmony that never dissolves."

Perfectly describes what gets me hooked in a song.

i think you mean never "resolves."  that would definitely make more sense.

resolving is when a measure in a song ends with an authentic cadence as opposed to a half cadence or playgal cadence to give the measure more of a complete feel. where most of daft punk's music doesn't use authentic cadences until very near the end of the song, usually the last measure in the entire track.

instead of ending the song on a note that makes the song feel like its over (authentic cadence) they end it on a different one that makes it feel like the song should continue (half/plagal/whatever cadence).

thats basically all that means

normally i am really not a fan of "edm" at all, but wolfgang gartner is the exception to this rule for me. I just read this in an interview with him and i think he points out exactly what the issue is right now with dance music and what daft punk is trying to do

QuoteTo be perfectly honest, and I hate to sound negative, cynical or condescending in any way but that's probably how this will come off, I've been really bummed with most of the new music that's been making waves in 2013. I feel like the "big" sound in dance music right now is just this mashup of every single subgenre possible, to try and appeal to the most people possible, with these cheesy played-out trance pads and vocal hooks, it all sounds exactly the same and it's really bad for the most part, and the scariest thing is that people are reacting to this stuff, crowds at festivals and clubs are wanting more of it. A few of us have deemed it the EDM Apocolypse. Dance music is in a really weird place right now. I don't know where it's going to go. In some way I'm hoping Daft Punk single-handedly destroys this phenomenon we're experiencing and un-brainwashes everybody into realizing that real music should have some soul and authenticity to it, and not just be a big kick drum and a trance breakdown with a cheesy one-liner and a "big drop."

Some new interviews came out.

Daft Punk on EDM Producers, 'They're Missing the Tools': [LINK]
Daft Punk Is (Finally!) Playing at Our House: [LINK]

I'm beyond ecstatic that when they worked on Random Access Memories, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon was looked upon as a model album. That's my favorite album of all time. :D Also, DJ Falcon has a very strong French accent. o_O I wish the latest episode of The Collaborators had subtitles.

definitely can't hear any pink floyd influence in daft punk

W.A.C.

Well, they mentioned in past interviews that the keyboard work in the new album would be very influenced from '70s prog and some reviewers who heard Random Access Memories claim the album has a noticeable amount of prog influences. I'd link to sources for statements from reviewers, but I'm trying to avoid album reviews.

Hype decreasing? The leak of Giorgio by Moroder is difficult to judge because it's only around a third of the song and in terrible sound quality but from what we've heard, I really like it a lot.

Edit-

An interview with BBC1 Radio will air tomorrow.

RichChap

its pretty bad quality, the one little riff in it sounds cool though

Give Life Back to Music leaked...in even worse quality. [LINK] I only listened to 52 seconds of it because the quality was so poor.

Edit-

Thanks to poor self control, I decided to listen to the leak. >_<

rtil

i am not touching any of these until the album is released in its entirety in the quality it's meant to be heard in. it deserves to at least be heard properly the first time, even if only once.
