Ladies and Gentlemen of The Back Alleys,

Awesome Games Done Quick

is over!

they raised a total of $420706.84

100% of which goes to the Prevent Cancer Foundation

video games are great, and have provided a huge helping hand to society, for the third year in a row.

that's awesome! i'm always surprised by how much money this kind of gig can get for charity.
i only wish they'd diversify the charities they donate to a bit more, most of them give everything to child's play like it's the only thing they can do.

rtil

they picked a good charity to give to. usually you see cancer benefits going to the susan g komen "for the cure" foundation that spends most of their money selling pink ribbons and putting on huge events that don't do anything for breast cancer victims. prevent cancer foundation is non-profit and they do good work

i'm not sure about the particularities of each charity, but in my mind, those guys that do the annual desert bus marathon (for example) could pick some other charity than child's play, since that one already gets millions upon millions from penny-arcade every year.
so it's always cool to see those guys diversify (take cr1tikal, who donates to like a different charity every month)

They should've had the cancer patients do the speed runs. I could imagine a lot of people tuning in for that.
