Speedrunning marathon to benefit cancer research

idk if anyone here likes speedrunning but i do so im gonna be watching a lot of this

ooh i love speed runs, especially the ones full of exploitable glitches

i'm gonna try to tune in to fallout, shadow of the colossus, and metroid prime. after those i'll just check the schedule again.

heh i am very familiar with how the metroid prime run is going to go (i've done speedruns of that game before, fully utilizing all glitches known) and i cant wait to see it

not to mention miles is doing the run, he's a well known speedrunner for that game and he's damn good at it

i wonder if any world records are gonna be broken. probably some for less popular titles but for ones like super mario 64 they'd have to do it perfectly

yeah i doubt any records are gonna be broken during the marathon
the guys that break records practice all day every day and are constantly looking for parts that can be cut out of their run

yeah but what about games like goof troop.. i mean there's a slight chance for titles like that. unless i'm unaware of a rabid group of goof troop speedrunners

isn't the super mario 64 100% record pretty much unbeatable? i don't remember if it belonged to a japanese guy or an american, but i saw the whole thing and many people commented it was deemed unbeatable

as for metroid prime: i just really love the glitches in that game. in fact, i've been hopping around trying to find "secret worlds" in every part of halo 4 that reminds me of metroid prime, haha.

the guy who holds the wr (siglemic) beat his own wr twice last year. i think he's stilll trying to improve on it. he's an american but he uses a japanese version of the game because it has less text to skip through. someone dethroned him momentarily last year as well.

speedrunners have it down to a science
just about every video game ever made has an online community full of people trying to cut a few seconds from the current world record,
and they're always looking for items they can skip,
entire sections of the game that can be skipped,
sequence breaking is an art.

I had a brief phase a long time ago when I was really good at speedrunning Banjo Kazooie.

I also just discovered that Mario 64 speedrun a recently, and it's easily the most impressive thing I've ever seen done in a video game.
