Most music programs available on mac are available on windows
The hardware costs far more for an equivelant pc
Mac: $6,503.00    Gateway equivelant: $4,199.99
If you really want a mac, get a cheap windows/linux running pc and use the mac hack(not sanctioned by apple) to get it to install, saves you hundreds.

ya, mac use to be better cause they use to make their own parts, and they were better.. but now they use intel parts, so there no better then PC's. also harder to upgrade when the time comes, if you really want some mac apps that badly you can use "Trans mac" and run it there on a PC.

i thought the only people who wanted macs were video editors and artists

also i\\\'d say yeah don\\\'t bother, if you own a mac the company controls everything you do with the machine. you can\\\'t upgrade it yourself, and the warranty is void if you so much as make a screw loose

damnit I have a mac SATAN'S GONNA GET ME!!

<~rtil> well fawx what you would do is delete the fla and do something productive instead

<+ansel> i lure children into my van with candy and then i read them passages from 'the origin of species'
<%ropesnake> billy con ends with billy raping his cat
<+billymonks> FUCK YOU BUG

<~rtil> ya one time i gave this hobo some cat food and he ate it like the animal he is it pleased me

not really, lots of great musicians use them
mark ford, chris deane, paul rennick

the macbooks seem pretty cool seeing as how they come with a microphone and webcam and stuff, and i've been told the wireless mice are gr8

rtil

never heard of any of those guys
you can buy wireless mice for PC's
what the hell are you gonna do with a webcam
the default microphone is about as good as your standard headset

i really don't see any benefit to getting a mac for music, i'd say the primary reason why most musicians have macs (if they even do) is because macs are more pretentious and hip aka no practical or real advantage

Nadroj0711

yeah, I've heard macs are really only just pretty and expensive
the webcam was really just for skype or iChat or whatever
a lot of people i know jave skype
I've just heard a lot of people say macs have better music sounds and stuff, i don't know

btw, those guys I mentioned are faculty here, but they aren't just that
mark ford is a world-famous composer

really, I just want a new computer
the one i have now is getting a little old
and it's given me lots of crap over the years
MIDI skipping, etc. my current issue with it is it won't accept a microphone

you know, some of you guys might be able to figure this out for me
ok, so my computer used to be able to use microphones and i mainly used a pre-amp
but one day, i don't remember how, it just doesn't even have it as an option.
if you go to control panel > sounds and audio devices > audio tab > sound recording: volume...
microphone isn't even an option for me
even if it go to properties, it's not there to check the box.
here's a screen shot

it records what comes out of the speakers
without a middleman
it's a perfect recording of the internal sound

It wouldn't be exactly a bad idea getting a mac jordan but do some more research, maybe ask ur music boss or something - and if that's yourself iunno man

and muse isnt that great anyway
thanks ill use this comment to help myself improve

Good - mac can run quite fast, what with the built in RAM, CPU, etc...
- can play music no sweat
- can make a good heat source
- will make Youtube Poop look gay

Bad - mac can't use certain file types, like most .exe types
- can have random hardware failures (compared to most mac consumers)
- can literally make you stab yourself trying to find the certain program you don't want, since there are so fucking many, even the ones you don't even have

not only that, macs break easily, and when you accidentally remove an important file from it, it's pretty much fucked up

but i'm sure you guys knew that, since some of you think they aren't that great

and yeah, look for different comps before even thinking about buying a mac

the drivers probably got removed somehow. did it come with software
if not you might need to look online for basic drivers
in the long run i'd get a new pc
you can make a pc do anything you want if you know what you're doing

a friend of mine came over and tried to help me out
we downloaded and tried a total of two drivers, and they didn't fix anything

then my next professional diagnosis would be that your computer is just an old piece of garbage
