Normally whenever I read a book/watch a series of anything I normally replace the main character with myself and think to myself what I would do differently and choices I would make the differ from the story i'm experiencing in the back of my head. I know a lot of people do this as well but does anyone not replace themselves with the main character/different character? Such as replace them with someone entirely different, or an altered version of themselves, and If so is there a specific reoccurring theme for the character you create for these roles? For myself it's normally myself with a little longer hair than I can have now because of regulations, i'm a bit taller and I don't need glasses and I generally treat situations as this role as I would irl.

Actually yeah now that you mention it i do that too. Whenever i do that i become a version of me with a suit and a flatcap whose only goal is to make life more interesting and more compliant with my morals. Hmm... Im kinda the anti-hero stereotype i suppose.

i've never thought about it like that before. i've never put myself in the same situation as a fictional character. probably cuz i'd do something totally different and ruin the point of the story.
