The animation was beautiful but other than that, mediocre as fuck. It did have it's moments though.

I just wonder why they have to play the same songs over and over instead of introducing some new ones... and in this one it even seems like they deliberately picked the top of the terrible ones.

Holy shit, the K-On movie.

Let me say that again: Holy. Shit.

I mean, I like K-On. I fucking love K-On, though the second season kind of got boring at parts and whatever but oh well because this movie makes up for all of that by being so fucking awesome that I'm past my usual sleep time typing this and I'm still energized from the motherfucking FUWA FUWA TIME and rice and RONDON and afternoon tea.

Normally, K-On is light, fluffy fun with some funny moments, and great slice-of-life. This movie pulled out all the stops, and oh my God was it hilarious. Seriously, I don't think I've laughed so hard and so often at something in years. From the selection of their trip destination and their shitty Engrish (Azu-cat, I will fucking never forget how close my lungs came to bursting from that) to Azusa's many misunderstandings, the first three-quarters of the movie were absolutely packed with hilarious, unique, and cute moments.

As usual for K-On, the voice-acting is superb, and I really have to give props to Yui's voice actress, again, since she just does such a great job, and Mio's singing voice is as perfect and sexy as ever. The English dialogue for London natives is actually done fairly well, though it's dodgy at some parts; it's not on the level of Eden of the East or shows like that which put budget into English voice acting. Still, the accents are right and the voices sound pretty good, though that's helped by the fact that you only hear bits and pieces of English, and rarely full conversations. The girls, of course, have a terrible grasp of English, and a lot of the great comedy comes from the culture shock of these ordinary Japanese girls coming to London.

The last quarter of the movie is heavy fluff, focusing on Azusa and the band's relationship to her, culminating in an extremely awesome, heartwarming moment for her right at the end, and it's even enough to bring a tear to these aged, scarred eyes.

This movie basically takes everything good about K-On and ramps it up to perfection: the slice-of-life is wonderfully balanced with the pacing of the plot rather than weighing it down like in some parts of the second anime season, the music is great as usual and features quite commonly throughout the movie, with the background music having definite tinges of British rock inspiration of various sorts. And the comedy, as I lovingly outlined above, is fantastic, some of the best I've seen in a long time.

There was definitely a lot of effort put into this movie as a whole, and I love it to pieces. Even if you haven't watched much of K-On, I'd still recommend this; in the first few minutes it gives a general outline of each character's personality and sets the scene very well, with fresh and new jokes and routines that new viewers can take interest in and find funny and cute.

Seriously, I fucking loved this. I can't stop recommending it. Just watch it. Now. I'm going to gush about K-On some more in my head and sleep, now.

The movie contains major spoilers regarding the outcome of season 2, especially in regards to azu-cat.
Also you'll miss out the strawberry scene.
