Would you like to see the contests return?

after talking about tba's Glory days with some people in the chat i got nostalgic and i wanted to see if other people want to see this return


for those who dont know what im talking about: a while ago we used to hold these tournaments where we paired up artists against eachother and have people from the forums submit their vote for who they thought made the better submission, which was either a piece of music, photography, a comic, an animation (if you had the time), literature or whatever.

it used to be a bracket-type tournament where two artists competed against eachother and the winner progressed, but later on we changed it to where we had 3 rounds, and the top most voted on artists progressed to the next round. each round had a theme the contest mod came up with. the contest mod was also in charge of starting the contest threads, counting the votes and kicking people.

Who that will be is not important right now, we'll figure that out later.

i know i already said this a bunch of times in irc, but i think a character design contest would be a lot of fun. (i think monster people would be a cool theme too, but i could be alone on that)

i also think it would be good if they were all fairly small goals for each round, so things don't fall apart.

previous rules we used to have (as far as i can remember) were:

- votes should at least provide a reason to go with them
- if youve won the previous tournament, you can enter the next one, but cant win
- mods are allowed to enter the tournament
- any media is allowed

i also remember we used to donate money which the winner would win. we should do that again, it makes the contest exciting and people will join (this is NOT an entry fee)

Yeah at the very least it would be cool to just pick a topic for the week/month/whatever and encourage people to submit pieces of whatever media to match the topic, competition or not.
