well folks, good news. i have just gotten DeSmuME to successfully connect to nintendo WFC. i have also successfully connected Advance Wars: Days of Ruin to nintendo WFC. i don't think anyone really plays the game so i wasn't able to get into a match with anyone, however i was able to download popular maps from their map database so i know the connection is working. for the record DoR is the only advance wars game that supports WFC so it's the only game we could play together. sadly it only can do 1v1 battles. but if anyone wants to try it with me i'll post the build of my DeSmuME to download, but you'll have to follow some instructions to get it to work and i can't guarantee it will work either (i've spent hours of failed attempts until i finally got it.)

now there might be a way to use the ad-hoc with something like hamachi or tunngle to do "wireless" 4-player battles but i'll have to look that up and see if that is even supported. when i ran the wireless menu options in DoR and dual strike the emulator was not handling it properly.
