Speaking of creating games that look and function like older games.

The Incredible Machine anyone?

rtil

can they seriously get away with this? like what about that is not a complete ripoff of the incredible machine. if i was the creator of that game i would take them to court. being inspired by a game is one thing, but shamelessly stealing from it is another. they should be ashamed of themselves. but of course they'll get all the credit and like with angry birds everyone will think they came up with the idea

It's sad really, because people will still buy it ignorant of the fact that the original concept of Rovio's game was well established in 1993. The Incredible Machine was a pretty addictive game, and made you think too. Definitely a pioneer for physics based games.

rtil

just imagine 10 years from now the kids of today will say things on the social media network flavor of the month "anyone remember Amazing Alex? that was the first puzzle game of its kind. really made you think"

Stealing ideas then denying inspiration from a source is common in game development these days.  People just want money and dont care about integrity.  It pisses me off so much.

What more depressing is that 99% of the people aware of these games don't care.

Sef

if they cared they probably wouldnt make a fast buck and have to make an original idea! and who wants THAT kinda pressure?

Bet if they opened their mouths, they'd be out of a job, that's what. Same bull with any other job.

Axis Cats vs. Allies Cats. I'd probably go with the Allies cats, they're much bigger and robust. A little on the heavy side though.
