flash is far from dead, >99% of machines connected to the internet have flash installed, and youtube's default format is flash player.

however, major developers are in the long, long process of trying to kill flash. once html5 becomes standard, flash will eventually die.

what do they expect people to do with it? like submit something you did in aftereffects or some shit? i dont understand

in the past people have submitted video files inside of swf's that were featured. now they can submit them in their native file format, which is better for the video and the viewer because flash is horrible at compressing video. i'm assuming they are generally looking for cartoons animated in flash with post work done outside of flash, but they're probably so desperate for content they'll take anything at this point.
