Me and Edd had been mates since around 2005. Say what you will about his animation or sense of humour but he was a super swell guy, and one of the few animators that never went out of his way to mock or insult people over time. Ill miss our chats.

psi43

does anyone happen to know what exactly happened? Was it his leukemia again?

He was still fighting of leukaemia and he was doing alright, but then get got a flu and the two together were too much for him unfortunately.

always thought he'd make it through. he was younger than me. nobody deserves to have their life cut that short

That's a terrible way to go, poor guy.

Tis an unfortunate day indeed. He was one of the few good animators who stuck around from the earlier days through the shit storm of all the garbage created today.

I always thought he'd make it through too. I never seemed to catch him on IM much, but he was always lovely to talk to and do stuff with over tumblr.
We're the same age so this cuts through me. I always thought people are invincible at this age...

RIP Edd

I actually talked to him a few months ago and he seemed to do alright aside from some probolems that are to be expected from the chemo (mood swings, general sickness, etc.) so I was rather certain that he'd pull through. The fact that he'd catch the flu was something that hadn't crossed my mind and that something as simple as the flu in conjunction with chemo could be fatal was also something i hadn't considered.

he surely was a fun guy to talk to and when i interviewed him, he was a great guy to talk to as well. Very kind and quite funny. Although I haven't been a fan of his early flash animations and i passionately hate all the eddsworld-copy-cats, i will definitely miss that guy.

I can't say I ever watched his movies, but I noticed (quick profile check) he produced content since 2003. Which is pretty extensive.
Maybe there is a correlation between animation and failing health, or maybe some people are just unlucky.
Rip either way.

now that you mention that, apparently Randy Solem (i think he made video game flashes, like sprite movies or something) died this month as well.

RIP Edd Gould (1988-2012)

Made this because im a fag and me and Edd go way back.

what's inspiring about edd is that he didn't let his illness get the best of him like some patients of cancer. he showed us all how to live; one day at a time, and make the best of it.

he will truly be missed. may he forever find peace.

I was thinking about him yesterday morning, wondering why he hadn't been on for a while and if everything was ok...

He was an extremely wonderful and creative human being. I'll always have memories of the shenanigans we used to get up to. And I'll miss him terribly.

sev

we've never spoken before but we had a lot of mutual friends, and from what anyone's ever said about him, he's always seemed really friendly and a great guy. i'm glad he at least doesn't have to suffer anymore, rest in peace

I'm not sure if anyone here wants to join that collab, especially if you look at who's organizing it, but either way, I will take part in that. Although not as myself (or well, that, too), but mostly representing the LockLegion in its entirety. TomSka (edd's friend) used to be a Lock and Edd used to be one as well, so I think it is only appropriate that he gets the recognition he deserves from a crew that cared about him as well.

rtil

he's not the only person organizing a tribute collab. dont even know who that is anyway. nalem wants to do one and donate its profits to leukemia research. not sure how it will make a profit but it could be a fundraiser type thing
