definitely air vents, the only sounds that came out of those things were probably whizzes and buzzing

that was one of the first computers. it took up an entire room and could only solve math problems fed into it. i'm pretty sure it did not have a display screen, i think it displayed results through print. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ENIAC

this thing was able to calculate 3 math problems per second.

Nowadays computers calculate over 3billion math problems per second and could be as small as a thumbnail (which would cost a lot though)
