when i was 14, i went to a really nice high school for a week. it was a public school, but it was a really highly-rated one that i happened to be zoned for. i made a handful of friends in only the first few days and was getting along pretty well, was a really nice experience. then i transferred to another one a week in after i moved. this school was out in the country, but going into it, i didn't think it'd be so bad. same high school experience, just a different place.

first thing i noticed when i went into the school was that the entire place smelled like the insides of the walls were stashed with the decaying corpses of the long-since-deceased elderly. second thing i noticed is that everyone looked extremely bizarre, all sporting weird 90's high tops and mullets. it was like i was in another world.




i also noticed that (not to be rude, but) everyone was really gross looking. like, not even the hairstyles, just everything. poor hygiene, physical condition, etc. i didn't judge them by that though. i judged them by the fact that there was not a single native person from the state that lived here that was not a huge douchebag. the people here (students and teachers alike) were massively socially retarded and impossible to get along with in ways i've never seen anywhere else, not even on the internet. it was a gigantic contrast from the previous school where everything was going smoothly. i went from being a normal kid to having no friends, and when i finally did make a few friends (6 months into my freshman year), they were not natives, but instead from northern states like me. like me, they were also sort of forced into the school because the town its in is sort of a bedroom town that doesn't cost a lot to live in, and their parents just kind of tossed them into the school without really looking into it. i had virtually nothing in common with those friends otherwise (aside from making music, which i've only ever really been tentatively and casually interested in my entire life because i like singing sometimes), but they were the only people that i could actually ever relate to, and i needed that. since then, they've moved back to their home states and pretty much never come back these days.

i've also spent a little bit of time doing some supplemental school work and testing at a florida school in which i was one of 3 white kids that had ever stepped foot in the facility in the last decade. surprisingly, i fit in better here than in the previous school i was just talking about. the kids were all pretty friendly and decent. i had nothing in common with any of the kids i met, but it was still better than the actual high school i went to.

I lived in low income neighborhoods, I had enough problems at home to deal with, school was just a distraction from the assholes who lived on the same street as me.

I went to a very small high school that was grades 7 through 12 and hoo boy did that suck. The school had a decent mix of kids, most of them were pretty rural though or super meathead athletic. Didn't have too many friends due to being an awkward twat and also cuz most of the kids in my class had known each other since elementary school. Also yeah my graduating class was 68 kids I think. Our rival high school a mile away graduated something like 1,200. I hear they're finally planning on integrating our district into the larger one  and I'm like fuck it, go ahead.
