i think they just spend all their free time on the internet looking for something to be offended by, and feel it is their obligation to single out anyone who says something they find offensive, which is a lot of things. or just talk about things they find offensive, so that everyone knows what they get offended by.

the frustrating thing is that there are many valid points to be made underneath these layers of extreme behavior, but they're so venomous about everything that it actually turns people away from the gender equality movement, because the loudest ones tend to be the most radical. i know someone irl who basically talks like a radfem all the time and wonders why they don't have any friends. nobody wants to interact with someone who goes out of their way to be confrontational and gets angry if you don't share their entire worldview.

and to top it all off if you're not one of them you're immediately assumed to be a transphobic bigot until proven otherwise. and to them that's acceptable behavior because since we are privileged we deserve to be treated that way since we cannot be oppressed. basically they just use the system of privilege as an excuse for their attitude. it's a really toxic environment and i don't think it does anything positive.

i think that's the worst part about it, actually. every group has their crazies, but in the trans world i feel like the absolute worst people are the ones who make the limelight on the internet, and they make it seem like all trans people are like that, but they're not.
