I fully agree that Higurashi is terrible. I watched all of it and can honestly say it's worse than even shit like bleach.

Don't get me wrong, the first seasons were actually quite nice and interesting but it goes a little downhill once they stop going nuts and killing each other and the most recent addition to the series was merely a bad adaption of your generic harem anime without any kind of plot or thrill...
Liking the series in general is quite a matter of taste, but so is liking these kinds of sequels...

The problem is, that the story has been told and the main plot is over, so it's understandable that they can't just turn it into another bloody mess. In a case like that, though, I generally think it's wiser to leave these works untouched instead of forcefully producing another worthless sequel and completely ruining the decent name of the franchise...
