i think these are all pretty great. some things are off here and there anatomically as you've sorta said, but its nothing truly significant and these are just sketches. i think its really impressive how distict and dymanic your cartooning is. most of the time, no matter what you draw, i can almost instantly identify it as yours, which in my mind, is the mark of a well-developed style. the creatures and machines in particular are gorgeously detailed and interesting. i also like the varying poses and clothing of the characters youre showing here too. keep it up! i hope the silliness in this thread doesnt deter you from posting more

thanks!! and yeah i neglected anatomy for many years. when i was a kid the closest thing i got to studying anatomy was the builds of the kremlings in donkey kong country 2. ive only just started working my way through the loomis books but its definitely something to focus on (i also know jack shit about perspective, if anyone has perspective advice please share it with me because sometimes it hurts my brain to even think about it)

also armon i should hopefully/finally be able to get your music vid done!! i have a loose schedule right now as opposed to the last 7 months or so

oh good. i wasnt even sure if you still wanted to do the vid since its been so long since we spoke about it. is msn still a good way to contact you?

perspective is pretty simple stuff when you get the hang of it. idk just how much you dont know about it, but id reccomend lookin up some 2 point perspective tutorials or somethin on youtube.

2 Point Perspective Drawing-Start Here
(like this except better)

its all very dull and technical mostly but if you dedicate a little bit of time to understanding it in a stripped down form (aka boxes on a blank plane) you can start to see how it applies in more complex works

How To Draw Two-Point Perspective, with Karl Gude
kinda like this

i had to take a class earlier this year where it was all about making these fucking technical perfectly in perspective architectural drawings and dividing boxes into 64 perfectly equal parts and it was mundane and redundant, but i guess i walked away understanding the whole idea better. i dont know if i could muster up enough passion to attempt to do things like that without it being part of an assignment, but id certainly practice a bit i guess idk

dilly

lenko, your stuff is always neat. I'm always so impressed about how small your detail can get

i also like the mayan/ancient-esque art you have been producing!

pizza point 4 u

lenko

@ zop: yeah i know the basics like two-point, but anything after that makes my head hurt (like, the really crazy shit where cities are seen from an angle at above) i guess the book jake posted will help though. my class was taught very rudimentary perspective at university and that was about it (unfortunately the course became more after effects based after a while and traditional drawing sort of took a backseat, no lifedrawing classes in the third year for example which was fucking stupid). i always wondered if there was a 'quicker' way to do it, but i guess it'll probably come more naturally after grinding away doing all the technical crap for a bit

@wasim: our album should be mastered by the end of march, so i'll probably put it on soundcloud or something

yeh once you do it for a bunch you sort of get a feel for it i guess without needing to constantly rely on rulers and shit

naturally

i couldn't even imagine drawing proper perspective with a tablet

Sinitron

drawing with a tablet in general feels really queer compared to pen and paper but with all the digital tools you could have at your disposal you sort of make up for it fairly effectively

Lmao... ok that was funny.

Philip K Dick

i love the song, i can see what you mean about people not caring for the vocals, although personally i thought it complimented the instruments really well

Philip K Dick

is that a sax by the way? way cool

lenko

thanks, and yeah although the core band is a pretty typical 4 piece (singer/rhythm guitar, lead guitar, drums, bass), we've got a few friends doing guest spots like that sax. the saxophonist was close to actually joining but then she got pregnant OOPS
