ZennyPLUS

Over the years and as we get older, our personality changes along with likes and whatnot. So do the names we go by on the net. I just thought it'd be interesting to share what would be some of our oldest handles all the way up to present time. Kind of like Facebook timeline, only less invasive and nobody is profiting off of it (I think at least). Also what is the reason you picked the name? Favorite animal, tv show, actor, or whatever that influenced.

GreatSaiyaman16 - back in the days of AOL...

kage-kun - I still use this as my ebay name, still old as last Sunday's dinner

Absolute-000 - Old dA username,

KnightSkyy - First author name username, defunct

Excetera-ZEN - Current dA name, originally made as an account to troll my friend with

ZennyPLUS - Gaming title and developer nickname, Zenny is the currency in many RockMan games, so I stuck with that.

Rockinreploid - Because yeah, RockMan.

redmongoose

yinredmongoose - aim handle from when I was 11. been using it since.

Yin is one half of yin-yang, the ancient symbol of taoism, and in taoist terms the yin represents the moon.  Red and Mongoose are both nicknames I adopted when I was a child.  They have their own back stories that I would rather not take the time to type out in detail atm

redmongoose - shortened version of yinredmongoose

redm - shortened version of redmongoose

cipher

#2
X - from around 5th/6th grade and onwards

Unknown Entity - Used this one the longest, swapped to it from X since X is to short for most places and is always taken. Used for newgrounds and a few other places

The End - for dA/some other sites I've been on, as well as my gamertag

cipher - basically the name I chose when I came to tba, wanted a noun instead of a phrase. Shortly after picking this one, I thought of a few I liked more, but i decided to just commit to this one, no more changing. Well probably. This one is still slightly generic, so I'll probably end up pulling a redm and change it to ciph or something at some point, I barely even care anymore

So, do you see the pattern with these names? I guess my tastes haven't changed much at all really

rtil

i've had rtil and used it and variations of it since i was 11, but i also made tenchiotaku3, my aim screenname, about a year later, and i never changed that either. but i hardly sign on aim anymore

Seems almost dismal, but it's cool. A cipher is used to record something, isn't it (too tired to google it)?

Crabarms

had some really dumb ones when I was 11 but luckily I forgot the password and never tried making them again

rpggamerr or something like that for asmb. There was an rpggamer there or somewhat close so I had to be the bastard to add extra letter to get the name to work.
chocobowz yahoo account, deleted it - used for newgrounds. I didn't find the name good afterwords.
blood tabasco - youtube name deleted it, it was just random words.
wingedcream - youtube still use to this day. Just random.
crabarms - realizing my other names sucked and having made shot gun wedding I took a feature from a character there and it was because the doctor guy had crabarms
which odly the main character never had crabarms yet I drew him with them later on.
crabarmed - newgrounds haven't really made anything so it was hardly used

Sadly the name isn't as unique as I thought they are a few other crabarms/crabarm I ran across on steam and apparently a website.

retrosmash

bountyhunter99 - oldest screenname i can remember having, and even then i was only really active on a few friends' long-dead forums and a freewebs site i had for about a year.  really, really gay times, folks.

after getting tired of bountyhunter99 a little after joining newgrounds, i tried out a bunch of different stupid little aliases the next few months.  i can only clearly remember "ultrasphere", "kyle-0", and something like "_hazard-" from that point.

after that i finally decided that "retrosmash" would be a decent screenname and have stuck with it since, often using variations like retrosmashok or adding dashes and underscores and whatever the fuck else.

oh and "riceglock" BUT WE DON'T NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THAT!!! :atta:

Philip K Dick

back in prison they called me armon "knife-hands" pakdel because my fingers were knives but they stopped being knives when i left to enlist in the vietnam war

Philip K Dick

prison just wasnt working out for me, i needed the kind of action you couldn't get behind bars. i needed to splatter fresh blood meat from all those innocent civilians worse than a guy who has knives for fingers needs a really long toothbrush

logen

just a reminder: we had this thread like 2 months ago

(ralvire)

anyways;

k!ller43 - really old steam name from when I was really young. It was based on that flash cartoon about stickmen in counterstrike made by WX (DE_Dust was the name of the flash movie)

Psi43 - This name is the one I've sticked to almost my entire (internet) life. When I was on vacation in Greece some guy kept calling me psi, which i thought was a cool name. Seeing as the internet is flooded with "psi"s and variations of that, I used "43" at the end of the name. Why 43? because at that time, it were the 2 buttons (4 and 3) that my fingers rested on, when i put my hand on the keyboard.

Belief - This one's not as popular and some of you probably don't remember it, but it's also my DA account (belief7). This was inspired by the illuminati symbol (pyramide with eye). I have no idea why but the first thing i thought of when i saw it was "belief".

Railgun - some chick with really cool powers from an anime i like

JesseJ - my most recent handle and probably the one i will be using from now on. "Jess" is what people call me in school etc. because one day, I had a really short haircut and reminded someone of Jesse from Breaking Bad, so he called me Jesse. Other people - dispite not knowing the show - called me Jesse as well and at some point it just turned to Jess. The reason why I write it like JesseJ is 1. it's an ambigram and i like those and 2. because Jess/Jesse is probably a name you can find on the internet quite a few times.

Oh also, PumpkinLock, but that one's kind of self explainatory.

e: Redm, isn't it "ying-yang" instead of "yin-yang"?
e2. oh apparently you're right; it is "yin-yang". The more you know

Fluffkomix

Fluffkomix. always has been always will be.

Started out when i made a comic in grade five called Fluffy Komix, that eventually just got shortened to Fluff Komix. It was about a sarcastic cat and a stupid dog (in no way inspired by Get Fuzzy), and also featured some other characters from time to time such as CPOC (cartoon piece of cheese), Sykie the psychotic mouse, and Stan the Male Man.

I just sort of stuck with it because i never felt like changing it, and everyone i knew on the internet already knew me by that name.

a cipher would be some kind of secret code [as in, encrypted in some kind of secret code]. As in, when you decipher something, you try to figure out what it means

Sinitron

i've used too many names to list

i've stuck with 'sinitron' since 2007 not because i particularily like it, but because of familiarity

i can't stand people who change their display names all the fucking time it is confusing as FUCK

so at the very least i try to have some relation to it
