?_? Wow responding to me with a lame attempt at insulting my work as a response and then the tired 12yr-old sarcastic threat of "I'd like to see you do better". Grow up Sev, I was only commenting on the fact that your gestures are REALLY sloppy and almost blob-like and I stand by that opinion. If however they DID only take you a few seconds then that's understandable for being a blob, but if NOT then maybe you should practice more on getting those lines to form mass and body shapes better rather than only seeing the parts that make up details of a body and drawing more where the skeleton and muscles would be okay? Basically everything you've posted in this meow thread is a sloppy unfinished mess that lacks direction and commitment to your craft; like you start it but lose interest and never complete the thing, and I think you need to start over with shapes and values before you try to jump ahead and do whole figures honestly, but I DIDN'T say that in my last comment because I have some manners and don't like to discourage a beginning artist who tries to get better and I think you ARE trying a little, so I held back on my other criticisms. But your little outburst and flat-out sarcastic attempt to instill some kind of "I'm gonna diss her work to hopefully make her seem un-creditable for critique" shows me that you still have a ways to go before being able to read criticism and not take it to heart as a flat-out insult to your ego.

And honestly yes I might have said my comment a little too lightheartedly, but I figured you would be able to take it with a grain of salt and not act like a whiny little 12yr old who hears something he doesn't want to hear. Until I see some kind of maturity, I will refrain from giving you anymore critique useless its asked for personally because I'm not wasting my good time on a person who reacts the way you did in that last response.

wait, so let me get this straight.

you refrained from giving me legitimate critique on my work "because [you] have some manners and don't like to discourage a beginning artist", so instead you facetiously told me that my art was bad instead rather than telling me what was actually wrong with it? who do you think you're actually convincing with that garbage?

i don't think i'm a great artist, or even really a good one. i have no problem admitting that most of my work is pretty messy and scrappy, and my figures have a fair share of anatomical problems. and i can accept criticism, but your comment wasn't criticism, it was just kind of... shitty? i honestly can't think of anything about what you said that would have been helpful to any artist in any way. even sinitron, arguably the most critical person in this entire community at least told me what was wrong with my drawings, because that is the point of criticizing something -- to analyze it in detail and point out the flawed qualities as well as the redeeming qualities, if applicable. you basically walked into my thread and told me my art sucks. there was nothing well-mannered about anything you said, and if that is actually how you regularly critique anyone's work, color me extremely shocked that no one has ever called you out for your obvious lack of professionalism.

and no, your work isn't what detracts from the credibility of your criticism. not knowing what you're talking about detracts from the credibility of your criticism. did you really just say that i need to do shape and value studies before i draw from life, and that drawing full figures is "skipping ahead"? are you actually serious, come on.

has your artwork improved at all since you first came here? i'm pretty sure it's been the same slipshod grimdark noodle-limbed cartoon minimalism with misshapen circle eyes as long as i can remember.

yeah, they're gestures. but hey, cool suggestion: why don't you give me some actual criticism and point out what's wrong with my figures in more detail? since obviously you know your shit, please indulge me with what you'd do better. in fact, feel free to sketch some poses and show me exactly how to do gestures, i definitely want to see exactly how this sort of thing is supposed to be done.

 Ye oldde flippy floppy.

Oh and as someone who tweens eggs for a living and hasn't improved art-wise since 2002, I'd like to state neither of you have any credibility at all in some of the ghastly shit you've said to each other in this thread and should both eat a big fucking slice of humble motherfucking pie.

And that will be the only post I make in this train-wreck.
