Hi,
I've been way into music pretty much my entire life. About 8 months ago I decided to take it a bit more seriously. I decided I haven't been here in a while and I remembered the good community. So I guess I'll dump my music or whatever, whenever.
My style is dubsteppy/electro housey.

I basically upload everything to soundcloud: www.soundcloud.com/kostya1

yep

Thanks man! I'm sort of ashamed of my really old tracks but who wouldn't be, haha. I try to release stuff at the very least once a month.

these are pretty great, sounds like stuff i'd hear on the radio. in fact, you should look into sending some of your tracks to C895 electrobox, it's a really popular nighttime program on a dance station here that streams online, they have a lot of listeners and play music very similar to what you make. they're very open to playing new and unheard stuff as well.

wow! That's the biggest compliment I've gotten. I'll definitely google them and send some stuff their way. Anything to get stuff circulating ;D

thanks! soundcloud's pretty good, but people get overlooked a lot. one decent spot for feedback would be http://www.reddit.com/r/edmproduction. lots of helpful people there.

Attempting to recreate the synth from Da Funk http://soundcloud.com/kostya1/da-funk/s-qIfAV

You're close, but I feel like something is a bit off.

Then again I haven't heard the original in forever

Kostya

Yeah, it's difficult to recreate the cutoffs and I need to add more mids to it.

The fact that you thought about it is good enough for me ;)

i gotta be honest, $2.50/track is a ripoff

I somewhat agree with rtil. But who sets the prices? Is it you or the record company?

1.50 per track  or $7 for the album seems a more reasonable price. Don't get me wrong, I really like your music, hell I'd buy it but the price is a little too steep. If I may make a suggestion, have you tried using BandCamp? I've bought music from there and it doesn't require the buyer to make an account why purchasing music from an artist, just a credit card.

http://music.flashygoodness.com/album/one-curious-nightfall-ost Just using this page as an example. I'd think you'd garner more sales if you used this to sell your music too. It allows the viewer to input the amount they wish to pay, and you can set your own or have a suggested price.

Example:

Let's say rtil went to your bandcamp page and likes your music. He sees that you suggest each track at $2.50, but he's not sure he wants to pay that much. Bandcamp can give you the option to allow him to pay what he feels, so rtil pays you 1.50 for each track. Same deal works with the album. I see that you suggest the price of your album at $5, but instead, I paid $8 because I like your music so much. :)

Hope that helps.

EDIT: At least that's how I believe this site works, I'm no musician so my experience with it is purely from a customer standpoint.

Yeah, I don't set the prices. I think I only get 80 cents per song. Beatport and the distributor get cuts then it gets split between me and the label. I think I may release some future stuff on bandcamp. But I think another reason why it's set at 2.50 is because beatport has many options when getting the music (wav file, aiff file, or mp3). Though I guess bandcamp one ups that with flac. BUT the main thing about beatport is if you get somewhere in the charts, it's pretty much guaranteed gigs.

But yes, future music while I progress will most likely be through bandcamp first. I'm assuming you get payment directly when it happens on bandcamp and not a quartly thing like going through my distributor.

I may even start by adding some recent tunes on bandcamp for a better price ;).
