X men: first class

Seen it today wasn't too entertaining. Some of the mutants they chose to be in the movie were pretty boring and just not really memorable or cool. If your a fan of a series you would probably be a bit disappointed in how they screw with the story and twist things around for the worse. If your not a fan of the series or unaware the movie it would just seems like any other super hero movie you've seen in the past and nothing to make you care about xmen. Not saying the movie was unwatchable but it will not be memorable and some parts of the movie looked like shit. The jokes were horrible as well.

[spoiler]Magneto saves the movie from being terrible they did make his character well for the most part.

Mystique was really dumb in the movie(well pretty much has always been dumb in the movies) but this just takes the cake. I really hate how they try to put a stupid message in the movie about how people should accept the way they look but they just blatantly at the last minute have the character say something to that effect even though they made the character to be really shallow and unbelievable and then suddenly goes through some "change" to make us believe that they gave that character any depth at all.

Beast's transformation was fucking horrible and I could hardly hold myself from laughing out hysterically. He looked like a blue grinch.

probably the most typical example of a 'decent' superhero film but did we really need yet another 'origins' style thing? the whole 'watch people get powers and learn to use them' shit is getting stale now and it takes up like a third of most superhero movies. also the pacing was all over the place and some of the characters felt/looked awkward. its a shame cuz in the first act of the movie, the period setting and more 'raw' interpretation of the comic was really going well with me. then it just slowly turns into cartoony boom boom pow bullshit like xmen 3.

the only interesting/good parts were the ones involving mr. x and magnet man

To be fair some superhero stories benefit from having their film being the origins story although i agree that if you keep doing it in a franchise it gets old really damn fast. I make an exception for first class though cause its really well done and it mades 3/wolverine benign so now maybe they can get on with pushing the stories forward with the people who can do a competent job back. in terms of late action i didn't mind it so much cause it wasn't so rediculous (Magneto stops a shitload of small missiles and shells coming but it doesn't feel like a rediculous jump in scale of power because he trained his powers to be able to move a whole metal building earlier in the film) although keeping some of the early raw aspects in the action all the way would've been great. People i've talked to about the film have said about how they dont like how beast looked when he became blue but i didn't really mind it so much cause beast didn't really look intimidating and i think that suits beasts personality just fine.

Either way i really liked it and its definately a refreshing change from recent superhero movies.

IMO it was definitely better than xmen3 wolverine and maybe even better than 1 (I need to rewatch it) I also enjoyed it more than thor and for that matter most movies currently on theaters.

im ok with an origins 2 but if they are making another one then why make magneto evil now? i think they should have given mistique more time to turn 'evil' and to explain how she cheats on magneto with the devil guy, thus resulting in nightcrawler being born (im not sure if nightcrawler is mistiques son but w/e)

i actually enjoyed the movie. I think the main villain had one of the most interesting powers in x-men so far.

but then again, for some reason i tend to like super-hero movies

this movie had a character in it that looked like me, had the same name as me and sort of acted like I do so it fucked with my head to watch it

as far as whether or not it was good, I kept looking over my shoulder thinking there was someone in the theater trying to get my attention, but from what I saw the effects were pretty cool
