It was great, loved it. Gary Oldman as the villain was perfect

watched kung fu panda 1 and 2 again, both are pretty fucking good movies i must say.

After rewatching Secrets of the Furious Five and the holiday special that aired on TV, it really makes me wonder how they're gonna approach the TV series. The Furious Five thing showed how the whole TV series could possibly be done in 2D, then the holiday special just looks as pretty as the movies, down to the 2D animated intro.

What I do not want is that Madagascar Penguins thing, even though apparently it's "doing well".

i take this back (sorry for bumping an old thread but i only just saw this film)

the 3D worked wonders here and they're really starting to show the advantages and potential of it now - hell, this time i actually preferred the 3D sequences to the 2D sequences. the atmosphere in some of the scenes was just fucking dead on - especially the part after Po gets blasted by Shen's cannon and ends up in the rainy forest area. Also a funny thing I noticed, the colours in this are a lot more vibrant than KFP 1 - and you even get an in-film comparison when that flashback shit happens.

shen was an entertaining and inventive badguy, seth rogan's mantis character was very funny, and the designs despite the dreaded '3D american CG eyes' are pretty much perfect cartoon animals (except tigress, her look doesn't really sit right with me for some reason). it also seemed a little darker and more like a kung-fu movie than the first, probably due to del toro's dabblings in it

obviously it isnt without its downsides - the red panda guy who dustin hoffman plays was reduced from a funny grouch to Master Splinter and i wish they were more subtle with the inner peace shit and not have po pull a move out of his ass that he just learnt after an epiphany (guess which film also did this? that's right, the first one)

i never thought i'd say this but it's probably the most entertaining film of this year for me
<emanhattan> i remember pingu ice cream
<emanhattan> it was a better time
<emanhattan> when the penguins were cold and delicious
