i am dead

<+wwchicken> once i walked into the kitchen and there was a sound
<+wwchicken> but i could only hear it when i stood on one spot in the kitchen
<+wwchicken> then i turned off the light
<+wwchicken> and it was gone
<+wwchicken> then i turned the light back on and there it was again
<+wwchicken> so i thought, its an invisible alien

are those the drums that come with the program?
otherwise good
where did you get those synth sounds
'ello gov'na

zomfgbie

all the sounds were pre-built into fruityloops

i use phasers and flangers alot. you can create almost any sounds using the FX tab on fruityloops, regardless of how crappy the default ones are.

fx tab?
i'm not that experienced with fl
what do you mean by that

get on AIM, itd be easier to explain over that. its pretty complicated but makes your work 10X better

fl is a newb program (this is the only time i'll actuallly use the term "newb" in a serious manner) because its so ridiculously easy to figure out. the preset instruments on fl suck and its only good if youre just starting out and as a bridge into other more advanced programs like cubase.

rtil

fl studio is a pretty intricate piece of software. if you're talking about "newb" software, i'd think that'd be more along the lines of something like garageband

i could show any simpleton how to use garageband. fl studio, that's a different story. you can produce pretty much anything you want with it. and yes most of the default instruments are garbage, but the plugins like ts404 can be fine-tuned to produce a fresh sound, plus you could just make your own instruments anyway

bottom line is they each have their strengths and weaknesses, and there's other programs that do the same things as both of them (like sonar and reason.) it's personal preference, and none of them are better than the other

Philip K Dick

i can see what you're saying

Nadroj0711

yeah a thing that makes fl so versatile is that you can put in your own sounds and use them how you like

but yeah almost all the default sound are terrible
'ello gov'na

rtil

they sound good if you put blood overdrive on them

MRat

Garage Band is indeed pretty noob software, but to me it's also infinitely better than Fruity Loops because I find working with your own recorded tracks in it.

To me though the best way to make music is to actually write music, on a staff, for instruments. Then get people to play it. Sounds real that way. Probably because it's real.

This piece here is pretty decent though, for what it is. I listened to it a couple times, and stuff. But it doesn't really excite me the way some other FL pieces have.
I was gone, FOR SO LONG

rtil

i like using FL for electronic and trance music. if i wanted to play a real instrument i'd go buy one

zomfgbie

^

also, blood overdrive is one of the FX things. that, plus a phaser, flanger, maybe some minor distrortion on some synths, and a ts404 layer and you can make some great sounds

ill never be a serious musician. like animating i just enjoy doing it and seeing what ive created, so ill probably never move on from fl

moonfish is better
Quote from: Inaxisdo u have a problem, bastard?!

Philip K Dick

i didnt want to argue any further against fl because its my music program of choice anyway ;*

rtil

And the Opah; Many others; see [1]. Moonfish, an audio tracker program for Windows. Moonfish, a digital media agency based in England

crimson66

I've got FL Studio 6 XXL Pro.

It's epic, if you think it's a newb program, you should look into the program more.

Its nooby for when your first starting.
But once you figure out everything it gets pretty epic.

And yeah...Blood Overdrive is my favorite filter.

zomfgbie

i use blood overdrive for some drums, but genrally i just stick flangers on all the synth
