rtil

well i probably shouldn't say here but i will say i got about 3/4ths of it from one place and it was relatively easy to snag. the rest was either stuff i had to do a bit more digging for and a small bit of it i already had.

I think Ren + Stimpy is considered public domain music but I'm not entirely sure.

If it is, would this also be considered public domain?

Wade is not gay, read his profile! It's sad that you would use sexual orientation as a joke, shows that you have no real sense of humor.

Sapphire

I don't think either are in the public domain. I remember using one of the tracks from the R&S OST in a video and the video ended up getting copyright claimed by some group. This all happened on YouTube.

rtil

yeah, i would imagine that every single track in this is not in the public domain unfortunately. however, there's no harm in listening to it, and as long as you aren't selling it or anything like that you're good.

I didn't download the zip yet, but I can tell you that this definitely isn't public domain, nor were the tracks used in Ren and Stimpy. As rtil said, you can freely listen to it, but if you'd want to use it commercially, or even in a movie that's just for a festival run (or even a simple web stream), you'd have to get a license for it.

If anyone wants to go down that road: Play Kpm.

Was it ever provided anywhere else for download or sale? Seeing that spongebob is such a homosexual now i think that its good for people to finally hear the great music the show. Back in a time when effort was a goal of art. It was a great find.

If I put this into Audacity and slightly alter the pitch would that avoid possible copyright infringements?
If taking some kind of anime and mirroring it on Youtube works I imagine this does too. :P
You won't be winning at all.

BluPhoenix

well, by now everyone's already downloaded it, but it would work to cover up the previous link and pretend like nothing was different

there are lo-fi versions of some of these songs on youtube, and they have been there for quite some time. i'm not quite sure how strict APM is about their music being used in non-profit stuff

What could happen? Band's that don't exist anymore will sue ya? Or Nickelodeon will sue for songs that they don't use anymore?

NOPE

rtil

oh, they use them all the time. spongebob is still in production. but they're not the property of nickelodeon, they're the property of APM.

well, these licensing houses don't like it, because you can listen to their music on their site for free, and even if you have something that's not for profit, you just send it to a festival or upload it to youtube, you still have to pay a smaller amount for it. Tho, here comes the weird part, if you are a registered licensee with them, you can download any of their tracks in HQ, and try them out, but you have to pay money for distributing them in any way (no re-distribution of course)

You clearly have no idea about copyright, first of all, in america, it's not the band that owns the copyright for their songs, it's the publishing house they are signed with. Anything they produce within the timeframe of the mentioned contract belongs to the company. If, you want to have the rights to our own songs, you have to buy them back. There's also something called royalties, at which they bite like mad dogs, if you download a song they try to say that they lost profit because of you, and sue the fuck outta you.

What's with nickelodeon? They don't own shit. This is production music we are talking about, it was made by companies especially for the purpose of licensing it to the entertainment industry.

Also why the fuck are you bumping this thread?
