comp shutting down by itself

for the past 10 days or whatever, my comp has been shutting itself down (sometimes restarting, sometimes not) around 5 minutes after logging on. however usually after i power it on again it works fine, no worries.

its usually after a long period of being shut off (12 hours sorta) that it decides to shut itself down randomly again. i dunno if its a heat issue or not, cuz the fan never seems to be straining itself or anything

anybody had anything like this before? the only change i've made to my comp recently is installing a new CD drive, and i'm positive thats not the cause

you could disconnect the CD drive and see if it stops happening, just to check.

run a program like speedfan or everest to see the temp monitors on your motherboard, core and gpu

when my comp did that, i had to get more ram
