The graphics and atmosphere are gorgeous and the puzzles are quite challenging, but I guarantee you'll throw a fit the farther you go into the game. The gravity level near the end had me screaming in frustration.
At first I was bit confused and upset with the ending (especially with hours of frustration I went through solving puzzles), but the more I thought about it the more touching it seemed. It was neither a happy nor sad ending. It can be interpreted in many ways depending on how you think of situations like the game provided. For one, the only part of the plot we know of is that the young boy we guided through was looking for his sister. Why though? What caused their separation? Were they both still alive living in a frightening world? Were they both dead searching for peace? Was the boy dead and did not understand except that he wanted to be with his sister? It can be viewed in many way depending on what your mindset is. For me, well, it is only for me to know.
A bunch of people were speculating about the plot when the game was first released.
There were some theories that didn't quite convince me, like the boy and his sister getting in a car crash, and some I found fascinating, like the boy progressing through adolescence (the proverbial "limbo" between childhood and adulthood). The least debatable of them pertaining to a literal interpretation of the titular Christian afterlife.
Similar to Braid, the story is definitely up to interpretation.
