the reason why this forum is becoming dead is that it has become a little club for like 15 irc people to make a bunch of inside jokes. its unwelcoming. this site used to be gay because of trolls like wps and sinister etc but it never felt as closed off as it does now. i think the reason i joined this forum was because of the art or something but honestly as someone who is not very involved in the community any more it seems like its only a gay irc circle jerk. now i may be wrong but its just the impression im getting as i lose more and more interest in this place.
ps the only good reason to still come here is to see lenko's and rtil's occasional piece of art.

I guess you haven't been on many forums but this is the norm. It really is.

Any forum or message board thats up for a few years will always have a small group of regulars who mainly talk only to each other.
And if there's a chatroom you can pretty much guarantee those same regulars will hang out there as well.

You have 2 options:

a.) you can whine and bitch about it and act like theres a social hierarchy and use hyperbole to pretend the regulars think of themselves as superior to the newer users (this usually happens).

b.) you can get over it. cliques happen.

People arent joining because of that. New members to forums never lurk pretty much ever. So none of them are going to know of any tightly knit social groups that exist on the forum. That's mainly you venting frustration because none of the topics here interest you. Which is your problem as you COULD easily create topics you want to see. But where's the fun in that?

Honestly I'm pretty sure the real reason we haven't had any new members as of recent is because nothing really exciting has happened as of late. Rtil's last BIG thing that drew an audience was the Lighthouse Girl. And he didn't put that on Newgrounds. (a good thing in my opinion but i know some people here are still fond of that place).

Imagine he HAD put it on Newgrounds. Considering how pretty it was, it probably would have made it to the top 50 for at least a few weeks before getting bumped off by "Bowser Farts a Whole Pipe and Likes It" or whatever else sprang up.
For that period of time, there would be thousands of kids viewing that flash, checking his site, and joining the forums for the sheer purpose of sucking his e-dick.

This happened before with Brawl Funnies and Metal Gear Funnies, although those brought drama queens as well.


Long story short:

the usual target audience that we tend to get new members from don't even know this place exists right now because rtil doesn't have anything up on NG that is really popular right now.


I guarantee whenever he releases that musical thing he's shown bits and pieces of off, there will be another slew of new members. A few of whom will probably enjoy the bizarre structure and social paradigms of this place and become regular members too.

That's just how forums work. It's been that way since forever.

ever since the irc channel popped up this site got a lot less funny because the regulars started only posting their funnies on irc, leading to less documented drama goldmines

and now i feel a little disconnected from the community because i don't have time to just stare at irc all day
