NEW YORK -- Its no secret: Bartolo Colon simply sticks with his fastball. Reilly Smith Golden Knights Jersey . He runs it, sinks it, spots it right on the corner or just above the hands. So the Pittsburgh Pirates went into Wednesdays game well aware their mound opponent was relying on that heater some 90 per cent of the time this season. Still, they couldnt do much with it. Colon carried a three-hitter into the eighth inning, and the New York Mets got home runs from David Wright and Lucas Duda in a 5-0 victory over the sloppy Pirates. "Its impressive to watch from third base," Wright said. "You look up at the scoreboard and its high 80s, low 90s (mph) fastball. He throws a lot of them, but he just knows exactly where its going and he just dissects hitters." Pitching four days after his 41st birthday, Colon (4-5) struck out a season-high nine -- seven looking -- in his second consecutive win. Wright added an RBI single during an eventful afternoon in which he also stole a base, made two throwing errors and robbed Andrew McCutchen of extra bases with a diving play near the line. New York salvaged the final two games of a 4-5 homestand after firing batting coach Dave Hudgens and replacing him with minor league hitting co-ordinator Lamar Johnson. "I didnt expect anybody to kind of hang their heads about it," Wright said. "Hopefully, the transition to LJ is going to be a smooth one. Hes off to a good start." The Mets improved to 13-17 at Citi Field, winning the series against Pittsburgh for their first back-to-back victories at home since a three-game streak from April 23-25. They open a season-high 11-game trip Thursday night with a five-game series in Philadelphia and play 25 of their next 33 on the road until July 4. "Weve played pretty good on the road, so were looking forward to it," Duda said. Colon reached 2,000 strikeouts when he caught ex-Met Ike Davis looking in the sixth. The burly right-hander saved the souvenir, tossing the ball to injured ace Matt Harvey in the dugout. "Just amazing how he works both sides of the plate," Wright said. "You just see, he freezes hitters." Colons previous turn Friday was washed out by rain after he yielded two runs in four innings against Arizona. In his last outing that counted, he went eight innings to beat Washington 5-2 on May 17. "He threw it where he wanted and we couldnt put anything together," Pittsburgh second baseman Neil Walker said. Colon was pulled this time after 121 pitches, his most in a decade, but Jeurys Familia needed only one to get out of the eighth. He got Davis to ground into an inning-ending double play with two on, then finished the six-hitter for his second major league save and first this season. "If they would have kept me in, I would have kept throwing," Colon said through a translator. "I dont get tired. I just want to keep going." Charlie Morton (1-7) was chased in the sixth inning and Pirates pitchers walked eight batters. Pittsburgh fell to 7-16 away from home with another poor day at the plate and in the field. "The defence hasnt been good," manager Clint Hurdle said. "Weve got work to do." Duda drew a leadoff walk in the second and scored after second-string catcher Chris Stewart was unable to handle a pair of wild pitches by Morton. Pirates starter Edinson Volquez and reliever Jeanmar Gomez combined for four wild pitches with Russell Martin behind the plate in Tuesday nights 4-2 loss. "Weve got to tighten some things up and play better," Hurdle said. "They had three trips around the bases in the last two days -- it was one hit." Wright had an RBI single in the third after an embarrassing defensive sequence for the Pirates handed Daniel Murphy a Little League triple. Murphy hit a grounder to third, and Pedro Alvarez threw high to first for an error. Murphy took off for second but the ball caromed hard off the dugout fence to Walker. He threw to second in time to get Murphy, but shortstop Jordy Mercer dropped the ball for another error that let Murphy scamper to third. Pittsburgh appealed that Murphy never touched second base, but he was called safe. "Sometimes he thinks hes invisible, and you have to remind him that, you know, people can see you," Wright said, drawing laughs. Wright opened the sixth with his fourth home run. Duda added a long, two-run shot off Bryan Morris in the eighth to seal the win for Colon. "Bartolos just a different animal," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "He just makes his pitch. He doesnt care how many hes thrown." NOTES: Hurdle said reliever Jason Grilli is very close to regaining the closer job. ... Gerrit Cole (4-3) pitches for the Pirates when they begin a four-game series Thursday night at Dodger Stadium. ... After the game, Mets C Juan Centeno was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas to clear roster space for C Travis dArnaud (concussion), who returned from a rehab stint with Double-A Binghamton and is expected to be activated from the disabled list Thursday. ... Familia singled in the eighth for his first big league hit. He became the sixth Mets pitcher to earn a save this season. Oscar Lindberg Golden Knights Jersey .Kessy tried to show what he can do playing left wing for the Oilers in 5-0 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday in pre-season action. William Karlsson Golden Knights Jersey . "Well over 50 (per cent)," coach Claude Noel said Tuesday after practice, where the Jets were looking at ways to cut down the scoring chances theyve been giving away. http://www.goldenknightsproshop.com/ .Y. - For once, Clayton Kershaw was glad to see a long shutout streak end.The Vancouver Whitecaps were denied a well-earned three points against the Seattle Sounders on Saturday, after Gonzalo Pineda converted a controversial penalty kick to level the score at 2-2. Whitecaps skipper Jay DeMerit was judged to have fouled Sounders striker Cam Weaver, though the "foul" that DeMerit allegedly committed was a mystery to me.  In the aftermath of the game, I tweeted this: If we start giving penalty kicks every time players make minimal contact heading crossed balls, well ruin the game. — Jason deVos (@jasondevos) May 25, 2014 To which I received this response: @jasondevos LOL -too late! You already ruined it with your stupid LTPD plan. #keepscore — Jon Empringham (@92jays93) May 25, 2014 While Mr. Empringhams tweet wasnt relative to the Vancouver Whitecaps game against the Seattle Sounders, it did highlight another important point: LTPD, the CSAs long-term player development program, is still very misunderstood. According to his twitter bio, Mr. Empringham is an elementary school teacher who coaches basketball, soccer and track. Given his occupation, he would appear to be the ideal proponent of the principles of LTPD. Yet he seems adamantly opposed to the removal of scores and standings for youth soccer players below the age of 13. While the removal of scores and standings is just one small component of the changes brought forward by LTPD, the concept still faces considerable pushback. I believe that much of that pushback comes from the general publics misunderstanding of the reason why scores and standings have been removed. Keeping scores and standings is not inherently bad for children. We havent been doing young players a disservice all of these years by tracking the results of their games, nor by adding up their wins and losses at the end of their seasons. What we have done, though, is compromise their development by linking their opportunities within the game – perceived or otherwise – to their results on the field. As it is my home province, I will use Ontario to explain. Until the introduction of LTPD, the "Pyramid for Play" (the name of the competitive structure for youth soccer in Ontario) was based on promotion and relegation between multiple tiers. The higher the tier, the more "competitive" the level of play. Tier 1, provincial "rep" soccer, was considered the highest level of play, while Tier 7, local "house league" soccer, was the introductory level. Teams who won their leagues (or finished in the top two or three, in some cases) were promoted to the next highest tier, while teams who finished bottom of their leagues (or finished in the bottom two or three, in some cases) were demoted to the next lowest tier. This movement of teams every year caused a major problem. Players as young as 9 were coming under immense pressure to win promotion - primarily from their coaches and parents. In some cases, failure to win promotion would lead to the break up of an entire team, as players would scatter over the off-season in order to tryout for teams that did win promotion. The concept of promotion and relegation created a false belief amongst coaches and parents that the key to success in the game - the way for kids to "make it" - was to play at the Tier 1 level, which began at the under-14 age category. The years leading up to under-14 were becoming a dogfight, as players jostled to be on a tteam that was poised to win promotion to Tier 1. Tomas Nosek Jersey. It didnt really matter how games were won, or what players were learning, so long as promotion was achieved. The competitive structure itself reinforced this "win at all costs" mentality, and youth soccer in Ontario found itself spiralling into a vicious cycle that was getting worse every year. In my time working as the Technical Director of the Oakville Soccer Club, I once had to gather the parents of an entire age groups competitive program after a fight had broken out amongst parents on the sidelines of an under-10 boys game. On another occasion, I had to intervene on the field of a house league game, as the coaches and parents were incensed by a call made by the referee – who was a 16-year-old girl – and were verbally abusing the young lady. Yet another incident saw a 14-year-old referee leave the field in tears after being verbally abused by spectators at a game. Over time, we have collectively lost sight of the fact that youth soccer is a game that is supposed to be enjoyed by its players, coaches and spectators. Young children shouldnt have to shoulder the burden of "needing to win this game" in order to win promotion or avoid relegation. That pressure is difficult enough for seasoned professional players to handle. Imagine if children had to finish in the top three in their class in order to graduate to the next grade each year? Our school system would devolve into chaos - wed have parents submitting homework and assignments on behalf of their children, as theyd be terrified that their kids would miss out on graduation!  Critics have argued that over-competitiveness amongst parents is a societal issue, and that other sports suffer from the same problems. If that is the case though, then surely it is up to our governing bodies to try to better the environments in which our children experience the game of soccer? Surely they should do everything in their power to compensate for our societys failings? Critics have also suggested that, rather than removing scores and standings, we should just remove promotion and relegation from the system. But doing so is far more difficult than it sounds. For starters, how does one determine which teams play at which competitive level? Does one make that determination based on population, geographic location, club size or historical club "success" – all the while knowing that any "success" that was previously achieved was done in a flawed system that was systematically abused? Additionally, there are many people firmly entrenched within the clubs and districts who rule the game in Canada who dont think anything is wrong with how we develop soccer players. Some of those individuals believe this because they do not know what a genuine, player-centric development system should look like, while others believe this because they have a vested financial interest in maintaining the status quo. It is those individuals who will fight the hardest to maintain the previous competitive structure. The only way to combat this is through education – by shining a light on what our real problems are. Because the only way we are going to fix our problems is if we first acknowledge what they really are. It isnt about scores and standings being "bad" for kids. It is about the behaviour that keeping scores and standings brings out in adults. Alex Dunbar has been preferred to Nick De Luca at centre, Tim Swinson is called up to the second row in place of Grant Gilchrist and Ryan Wilson usurps Johnnie Beattie at blindside flanker. Scotland hasnt won its opening match in the tournament since 2006. Michael Conforto Jersey . The NHL Play of the Year showdown kicks off with some slick moves going head-to-head with a combination of soft hands and endless patience.MILWAUKEE -- Kemba Walker scored 21 points and Al Jefferson added 16 of his 20 in the second half to help the Charlotte Bobcats beat the Milwaukee Bucks 101-92 on Sunday for their fourth straight victory. Gary Neal added 18 in his return to Milwaukee after the Bucks traded him to Charlotte last month. Gerald Henderson scored 14 as the Bobcats matched their longest winning streak of the season, set Feb. 18-22. Brandon Knight scored 21 points and Ramon Sessions added 18. Jeff Adrien and John Henson each had 12, but it wasnt enough to stop the Bobcats from their first sweep of a season series from the Bucks. Neal led the way in the fourth quarter as the Bobcats slowly pulled away. He scored seven the Bobcats first 12 points and finished with 10 in the period. Josh McRoberts hit a 3-pointer and then Neal added a jumper that gave Charlotte an 88-85 lead. Khris Middleton answered with a basket to pull Milwaukee within one, but Jefferson scored on a hook shot and layup to end any chance of the Bucks win. Neal continues to rebound from a one-game trip to the bencch. David Wright Jersey. . After Neal scored 19 points in a 105-98 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Monday, Bobcats coach Steve Clifford benched him in Wednesdays 98-85 win at Washington for an "internal team matter." Neal scored 19 in the 105-93 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday. Neal and Luke Ridnour faced their former teammates for the first time since being traded by the Bucks last month. Milwaukee sent Neal and Ridnour to Charlotte on Feb. 20 for Adrien and Ramon Sessions. Neal complained about his role with the Bucks and clashed with coach Larry Drew and centre Larry Sanders, who is out indefinitely with a fractured orbital bone. Neal got into a heated exchange with Sanders in the Bucks locker room after the 116-100 loss to the Suns in Phoenix on Jan. 4. Then Neal, in his fourth season in the NBA, fell out of the rotation when Drew played younger players. The sparse crowd booed when Neal entered the game in the first quarter and when he made two free throws in the second. Notes: Bucks F Ersan Ilyasova missed the game due to a sore right ankle. VANCOUVER -- Kenny Miller saw a chance to spend some time with his family and he took it. Tre Boston Jersey . Miller and the Vancouver Whitecaps mutually agreed to terminate the Scottish nationals contract on Sunday, freeing the 34-year-old to take a vacation with his wife and children. "What this does is it gives me six, seven weeks to get a holiday, which Ive not had since Ive been out here, so its been a couple years since Ive been on a holiday with the family. So well get away on holiday probably in the next few weeks," said Miller. "Then we can sit down and hopefully find us a new club come the first of July (transfer window)." The 34-year-old Miller joined Vancouver in June 2012 and during his time with the club the native of Edinburgh made 45 appearances in all competitions. He had 13 goals and three assists in that span. "We are thankful for the contributions Kenny made both on and off the pitch during his time in Vancouver," said Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson. "He has been a great role model, a constant professional, and someone who I consider a very good friend. We wish him and his family all the best." Miller has no specific plans worked out yet and said hed be happy to land anywhere. "To be honest with you, I wouldnt rule anything out," said Miller. "Ill be able to get away and look at all options to see what it brings. But like I said, I wouldnt rule anything out, its just a case of my agent getting down to work and finding us a new home." The contract termination came with no hard feelings, said Miller, who enjoyed his time in British Columbia and Major League Soccer. "Its the nature of the business that were in," said Miller. "Clubs have got to look after their base interests and obviously players have got to look after theirs. The club obviously wanted to move in another direction and I wanted to do something as well. "I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Vancouver, its almost been two years now. Ive enjoyed my two years there." Jahleel Addae Jersey . According to a police report, Douglas is accused of grabbing his girlfriend by the neck and slamming her against the wall several times while he carried her from the elevator to their Hartford hotel room early Sunday morning. Rayshawn Jenkins Jersey . At a news conference Tuesday where it was thought that the fiery Schallibaum may be shown the door after a dismal finish to the Major League Soccer season, team president Joey Saputo said no decision has been made on whether the Swiss Volcano will be back in 2014. http://www.prochargersteamstore.com/Youth-Tyrell-Williams-Elite-Jersey/ . Rudy Gay made the tying basket in regulation and a 3-pointer in overtime that gave Sacramento the lead for good, and Fredette scored a career-high 24 points to help the Kings beat the Knicks 106-101 on Wednesday night.TORONTO - As the country celebrated Canada Day two years ago the Raptors sent a small army to Manhattan, led by then general manager Bryan Colangelo, in an effort to recruit the most coveted free agent point guard on the market. The Raptors contingent - which included Dwane Casey, Jay Triano and Larry Tanenbaum - pulled out all the stops trying to sell Canadas own Steve Nash on a move to Toronto. After a two-hour meeting, highlighted by a video presentation featuring hockey icon Wayne Gretzky, the Raptors left Nash with a generous offer. Days later he turned them down, opting for less money and a better shot at a championship in Los Angeles. Colangelo went forward with his Plan B, a trade for Rockets point guard Kyle Lowry. Now the Raptors find themselves in a similar predicament, only this time the approach couldnt have been more dissimilar. They didnt send a front office mob, there was no video cameo made by The Great One. This time they left the kitchen sink in Toronto. Instead, Raptors GM Masai Ujiri and head coach Dwane Casey had a quiet sit down with Lowry in his hometown of Philadelphia Tuesday afternoon. True to form Ujiri and his coach exuded confidence. Calm, cool and collected, the Raptors brass did not find it necessary to camp out on Lowrys front porch at 12:01 AM, the time in which teams were able to officially commence negotiation with free agents. Their sales pitch centred on a simple premise, one that the team had already been preaching publicly for months - they want him back. What they didnt say, and would be reluctant to admit, is that they need him back. Rightly or wrongly, the perception that players dont want to come to or stay in Canada has dogged the Raptors since their inception. After all, Nash wasnt the first player to spurn the Raptors. Theres a long history of it in fact. Damon Stoudamire was the first star to want out, followed by Vince Carter - the franchises best player - seven years later. Tracy McGrady and Chris Bosh each bolted via free agency, while both Kenny Anderson and Alonzo Morning refused to even put on the jersey. The new regime intends to snuff that stigma once and for all. Along with MLSE boss Tim Leiweke and global ambassador extraordinaire Drake, Ujiri has helped empower a fan base that had lost hope prior to their arrival a year ago. Nigel Harris Jersey. "Why cant I change it," Ujiri said, challenging that perception as he was introduced as the Raptors new GM last June. "Its our job to make it better, its our job to make it good, its our job to create a winning environment and thats why Im here." With the embattled franchise finally on the precipice of turning the page and changing a culture that has beset them for the better part of the last 20 years, the stakes are much higher now than they were in 2012 when they struck out on Nash. For all the progress the Raptors made in 2014, turning heads as a result of their breakout campaign, spirited playoff run and We The North campaign, the wind could be taken out of their sails in a hurry should Lowry fly the coop, especially if he leaves for Houston or Miami. This is their first big test, one they dont intend to - and cant afford to - fail. Lowry is Torontos No. 1 priority, theyve made no secret of that. "Were going to go full force," Ujiri promised last week. And they have. The Raptors initial offer to Lowry was substantial, said to be in the $11-$12 million range annually over a four or potentially five-year term. A salary in that range would make Lowry the seventh highest paid point guard in 2014-15, not including Kyrie Irving whose max extension wont take into effect until the following season. Of course, theres more to Ujiris pursuit of Lowry than just pride. The Raptors GM would happily show Lowry, or any other player the door if he felt theyre not worth their price tag. Like any other investment, Lowry is a calculated risk but the Raptors are betting the 2013-14 version will be more of the norm than an anomaly going forward. Its because hes a player worthy of the money that Ujiri has done - and will continue to do - everything in his power to keep Lowry in a Raptors uniform. Still, the decision belongs to Lowry. The 28-year-old will take a few days to weigh his options with his family and agent Andy Miller as Raptors fans hold their collects breath. With Torontos 20th year anniversary season around the corner, keeping Lowry would go a long way in the continued saga to rewrite the franchises troubled history.   Jerseys From China Jerseys NFL China Jerseys NFL China Wholesale Jerseys 2020 Jerseys NFL China Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys ' ' '

LIVERPOOL, England -- Manchester City hurdled its last big obstacle en route to the English Premier League title by winning 3-2 at Everton, while heavy defeats condemned Fulham and Cardiff to relegation on Saturday. Cleveland Browns Jerseys . Two home wins, against Aston Villa on Wednesday and West Ham on Sunday, separate City from a second championship in three years after coming from behind to win at Goodison Park -- a stadium where it has traditionally struggled with just one victory from its last 15 visits. Sergio Agueros goal cancelled out Ross Barkleys brilliant 11th-minute opener for Everton, then Edin Dzeko scored twice in a five-minute span bridging halftime to help City go top -- for a day at least -- on goal difference from Liverpool, and two points clear of Chelsea. All three teams have two games left, with Chelsea playing Norwich on Sunday and Liverpool at Crystal Palace on Monday. "Three points is a huge step for us," City manager Manuel Pellegrini said. "Its a decisive moment, but we havent finished yet." Aguero gave City a scare by limping off in the 28th minute -- soon after scoring his equalizer -- but said on Twitter that he came off as a precaution and he was "fine." Evertons defeat dealt a major blow to the title hopes of neighbour Liverpool, and ensured Arsenal clinched fourth spot and Champions League qualification for the 17th straight season. Resurgent Sunderlands surprise 1-0 win at Manchester United pulled the team three points clear of third-from-bottom Norwich, gave interim United manager Ryan Giggs a reality check, and also consigned Fulham and Cardiff to the second tier. Fulham lost 4-1 at Stoke, and Cardiff was defeated 3-0 at Newcastle, leaving both sides unable to climb out of the relegation zone. "I have to apologize for not managing the situation. The club asked me to come -- I tried," said Fulham manager Felix Magath, who was hired in February in an attempt to keep the club in the top division for a 14th straight season. "You can never say any player would like to see relegation, but they didnt fight enough, especially today." Cardiff goes down after spending just one year in the Premier League, having also changed managers midway through the season in a bid to prevent the drop. "I knew what I was coming into," Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said. "I didnt make the impact I hoped for and I believed in." Sunderland has taken seven points from trips to Man City, Chelsea and United in the past three weeks, with Sebastian Larssons 30th-minute goal clinching a first league victory at Old Trafford since 1968. United turned in a performance reminiscent of David Moyes woeful 10-month tenure that was brought to an end last month, puncturing the optimism created by the teams 4-0 win over Norwich last Saturday in Giggs first match in interim control. "I feel flat," Giggs said. "The players were flat and I dont know why. . We were putting five- or 10-yard passes astray and if you do that in the Premier League you get punished. Weve had a problem at home all season -- its not been good enough." Already out of contention to qualify for the Champions League, United is also struggling to make the Europa League as it is six points behind sixth-place Tottenham, which lost 2-0 at West Ham. Spurs went down to 10 men in the 25th minute when Younes Kaboul was given a straight red card for a professional foul, before an own goal by Harry Kane and Stewart Downings free kick secured a victory that preserved West Hams Premier League status for another season. Aston Villa moved six points clear of Norwich after beating Hull 3-1 thanks to Ashley Westwoods goal after 58 seconds and a pair of headers from Andreas Weimann just before halftime. Hull, a point behind Villa, was also unlikely to be hauled in by Norwich but its three-game winless run bodes ill for the FA Cup final against Arsenal on May 17. Regardless of that result, however, Hull will get the Europa League spot offered by the FA Cup courtesy of Arsenal securing fourth place in the league. Southampton beat Swansea 1-0 away thanks to Rickie Lamberts injury-time goal. Briean Boddy-Calhoun Jersey . Harris has played in six games since joining the Argos in 2012, completing 17-of-35 passes for 256 yards and one touchdown. Jamie Collins Jersey .com) - Manu Ginobili capped off a 26-point night with a go-ahead layup with 24 seconds left in overtime, with the basket giving the San Antonio Spurs a much-needed 95-93 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. http://www.authenticbrownsnflfansmall.com/c-48-browns-josh-gordon-jersey.aspx . -- Miami Dolphins defensive co-ordinator Kevin Coyle defended the management style of coach Joe Philbin in the wake of the teams bullying scandal. SALVADOR, Brazil -- Tim Krul came on as a substitute in the final minute of extra time and then saved two penalties in a 4-3 shootout victory over Costa Rica on Saturday, giving the Netherlands a spot in the World Cup semifinals. Krul saved spot kicks from Costa Rica captain Bryan Ruiz and Michael Umana after the match had finished 0-0. "We had a lot of chances but it didnt go in," Krul said on Dutch television. "Then I come in, stop two penalties and here we are." In another stroke of tactical genius at this years World Cup, Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal pulled Jasper Cillessen moments after the Ajax goalkeeper had saved a shot from Marcos Urena in extra time. "The trick is good," said Krul, who plays for Newcastle. "A lot of preparation went into it." The Dutch team will next face Argentina in the semifinals on Wednesday in Sao Paulo. Krul looked super confident during the shootout at the Arena Fonte Nova, saving the second and fifth penalties by diving to his left and sticking out his hand. When Krul stopped Ruizs penalty, Cillessen, watching fromm the sideline, punched the air in celebration. Kevin Hogan Jersey. When he saved the second to win the match, Cillessen out-sprinted the rest of the bench to get to Krul, who was already being mobbed by jubilant teammates who had watched from the halfway line. Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas had kept his team in the match with a string of great saves in the first half and again in extra time. When Wesley Sneijder twice beat him late in regulation and again in the second half of extra time, the woodwork made the stop. Sneijder hit the post with a free kick in the 80th minute and sent a curling shot over Navas and off the crossbar before the penalty shootout. At the end, however, Navas could not stop any of the four Dutch penalties as veterans Robin van Persie, Arjen Robben, Sneijder and Dirk Kuyt all scored. The Krul substitution will only boost Van Gaals reputation as a coach who leaves nothing to chance and who has a golden touch with replacements. And it kept his tenure with the Netherlands alive for two more matches before he becomes the manager at Manchester United next season. PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired infielder Jayson Nix in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays. John Miller Jersey . Nix is a career .218 hitter in 425 games over six seasons. The 31-year-old right-handed hitter batted .270 with a homer this spring for Tampa Bay. The Rays received cash considerations in Fridays deal. Nix batted .236 with three homers and 24 RBIs in 87 games with the Yankees last season. Preston Brown Jersey . Fabio Fognini pulled off a surprise 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 victory over two-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray to level the best-of-five quarterfinal at 2-2 before Andreas Seppi defeated James Ward 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 in the decisive match. Eric Wood Jersey . A last-minute leveler ensured the two-time defending champion remained nine points ahead of Roma, which drew 0-0 at bitter rival Lazio in the capital derby. http://www.billsnflgears.com/Black-Dion-Dawkins-Bills-Jersey.html?cat=933 .Y. - Everyone expected Clayton Kershaw to pitch a shutout, and he did — a unanimous choice for the NL Cy Young Award. There are some safe picks at the top of the Minnesota Wild depth chart, but more of their players are later picks with potential or sleeper value. Top Picks: While the Wild broke the bank for free agents last summer, they at least spent their money on premium players. LW Zach Parise is consistently productive and, aside from 2010-2011 when he played only 13 games because of a knee injury, Parise has missed either one or zero games in his seven other NHL seasons. He may not be a point-per-game guy again (something hes done twice), but hes a five-time 30-goal scorer worthy of being top five selection among left wingers. Ryan Suter stepped to centre stage in Minnesota and scored a career-high 0.67 points per game while leading the league in ice time, at 27:17 per game. Over the last five seasons, he has 199 points, which ranks eighth among defencemen. Hes a viable No. 1, but certainly a strong No. 2 option on the blueline. Value Plays: C Mikko Koivu is consistently productive, but his ceiling may be the 71-point season he had in 2009-2010. As a No. 2 fantasy centre hes okay, particularly considering that he benefits from playing with Parise. After he was acquired from the Buffalo Sabres, veteran RW Jason Pominville contributed nine points in 10 games before suffering a concussion. Hes one year removed from a 73-point season, but his value is going to be tied to where he fits in the lineup. If hes with Koivu and Parise on the top line, thats ideal; if hes on the second line, its not as ideal, so valuing him as a No.3 fantasy winger seems about fair. Hes 35 and last years .909 save percentage was the second-worst of his career, but G Niklas Backstrom also won 24 games, playing more than an ideal amount because of Josh Hardings health. Backstrom can still have value, but cant be expected to play as many games as 2013, when he played 42 of 48. Tyrod Taylor Jersey. Sleepers/Breakthrough: At one time in the not-too-distant past, RW Dany Heatley was a first-round fantasy pick, but hes fallen on hard times, which now makes him a potential value pick up. His point production and ice time were at career-low levels last season, yet hes a nine-time 20-goal scorer who is likely to have a regular role on the power play. At some point, later in the draft, hes going to be worth a try. The Wild have a number of young players bucking for bigger roles. C Mikael Granlund was highly-touted last year, but was ultimately a bust as a rookie. He scored 28 points in 29 AHL games, however, so its too soon to give up on him. RW Charlie Coyle isnt a big scorer (14 points in 37 games as a rookie), but hes a big body and earned time down the stretch with Parise and Koivu. If he finds his way back to that spot, there is potential value. LW Jason Zucker had five points in 20 games with the Wild last season, but 24 goals and 50 points in 55 AHL games suggests that he has the ability to fill a second-line role. LW Nino Niederreiter had 28 goals and 50 points in 74 AHL games last season and is looking for a fresh start away from the Islanders. Any combination of these young forwards could ultimately have fantasy value, but until roles are settled, theyre difficult to draft. Rookies: The seventh overall pick in 2012, D Mathew Dumba isnt assured of a spot on the Wild roster, but hes a dynamic player, a defenceman who joins the rush, can score and play a physical game. It may be too soon to expect big numbers from Dumba, but hes worth having an eye on if he makes the club. No. AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- If the Detroit Pistons had played defence like this all season, their chances of making the playoffs might not look so remote. Josh Smith scored 24 points and Rodney Stuckey added 23, and the Pistons held Sacramento to 11 points in the third quarter in a 99-89 victory over the Kings on Tuesday night. "I thought our bigs were tremendous in pick-and-roll tonight," Detroit interim coach John Loyer said. "But it was a team effort. The guys on the ball did a good job. We didnt give them easy looks." Andre Drummond added 15 points and eight rebounds for Detroit, outscoring DeMarcus Cousins in a matchup of two of the NBAs top young big men. Cousins had 13 points and 14 rebounds but shot 5 of 15 from the field. Detroit trailed 54-52 at halftime, but outscored the Kings 20-11 in the third quarter. "I thought we lost that game in the third quarter," Sacramento coach Michael Malone said. "We did not come out ready to play. We had some good looks, but did not knock them down." Rudy Gay scored 20 points and Isaiah Thomas added 19 points and eight assists for Sacramento. The Pistons snapped a three-game losing streak and pulled to within three games of Atlanta for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. "We played with a sense of urgency," Detroit guard Will Bynum said. "There are a couple of things we could do a little better, but this is definitely a building point." The Pistons have shown little sign of a late-season run, but they put the Kings away with impressive starts to the third and fourth quarters. Detroit began the third on an 8-0 run thanks to a dunk by Drummond and 3-pointers by Smith and Brandon Jennings. An alley-oop from Smith to Drummond on the break made it 69-60. "Sometimes iit isnt about numbers, its how you play," Loyer said. Allen Craig Jersey. "I thought it was one of Andres better games. I thought he did a much better job in the post. I thought his defence was good." It was 72-65 after three, and Detroit started the fourth with six straight points. "Were concentrating on feeling more comfortable and were also trying to play for something," Smith said. "I dont want to sit home in April and think about what I could have done." The Pistons won despite a rough shooting night for their two point guards. Jennings and Will Bynum combined to go 5 of 24 -- although they did finish with 13 assists between them. Cousins dunked on Drummond early in the game, giving the Kings a 12-6 lead, but the Pistons kept him under control for the most part. Drummond blocked a shot by Cousins out of bounds later in the first quarter. "We just make too many small mistakes during the game. Turnovers hurt us, and we didnt communicate on defence," Cousins said. "Were making things too hard on ourselves. They came to play, and they made it tough for us, but we are hurting ourselves." Greg Monroe, who was drafted two spots after Cousins in 2010, had six points and 12 rebounds for Detroit. NOTES: There was a moment of silence before the game in honour of William Clay Ford, who died Sunday. Ford was owner of the Detroit Lions and the last surviving grandchild of automotive pioneer Henry Ford. ... Sacramentos Ray McCallum, who played college basketball at Detroit, scored nine points on 4-of-5 shooting. ... The Kings did match up well with Detroit inside, outscoring the Pistons and their imposing front line 18-8 on second-chance points. ... Sacramento shot 3 of 15 from 3-point range, and in the second half the Kings went 6 of 17 on free throws. LAKE LOUISE, Alta. Mario Lemieux Jersey . -- With the Winter Olympics coming over the horizon, its tempting to want to wrap Canadas top athletes in bubble wrap so they stay in one piece over the next few weeks. Sorry, cant happen, says snowboarder Maelle Ricker, the reigning Olympic champion in womens snowboard cross. The start of Rickers season was delayed by a concussion, but she vows she wont back off between now and February, when the Winter Games will be held in Sochi, Russia. "You cant be hesitating or hanging back or holding things back," she said Friday at Lake Louise. "It doesnt work that way. Thats just not the way to look at it. Youve got to keep your level of riding, keep progressing and hopefully you peak in February." Ricker became the first Canadian woman to win a gold medal in a home Games when she won in 2010 in Vancouver. She says a training crash "sent me on my head" earlier this month in Austria. The 34-year-old from Squamish, B.C., returned to Canada with a mild concussion instead of racing the first World Cup of the season in Montafon, Austria. The cobwebs cleared in time for Ricker to compete at the Sportcheck Snowboard World Cup in Lake Louise, which is the closest boardercross race to home shes had since winning gold on Cypress Mountain. Ricker and Dominique Maltais of Petite-Riviere-St Francois, Que., qualified Friday for the womens quarter-finals, semifinals and finals Saturday. Calgarys Chris Robanske was first in mens qualifying. Hell be joined in Saturdays main event by teammates Rob Fagan of Squamish and Kevin Hill of Vernon, B.C. Robanske, Ricker and Maltais have already qualified for Sochi. Ricker is also the reigning world champion after winning this years title in Stoneham, Que. Maltais, 33, won the overall World Cup snowboardcross title each of the last three years and was a bronze medallist at the 2006 Winter Games. Robanskes World Cup win at Blue Mountain in Collingwood, Ont., last season was the first by a Canadian male since 2007. Maltais opened this season finishing second in Montafon. Shes been a model of consistency and her reward has been the crystal globe that goes to World Cup champions. "You have to be on it pretty much every race," Maltais said. "I love what Im doing. Im always looking to improve myself. "Everything Im eating, everything Im touching is to make me a faster, better athlete and a better person too." Maltais and Ricker make Canada a double medal threat in womens boardercross in Sochi. The two women are supportive of each other and will high-five each other even before going head-to-head in a final. "I have so much respect for Dom when were on course," Ricker said. "Shes really pushed the level the last few years. Its really made our whole girls team rise up. "When were on course, were definitely not trying to take each other out. Thats not the idea. The idea is we both get to stand on the podium." Instead of racing each other in four-boarder heats as they do Saturday, the snowboarders race alone against the clock in qualifying. The top 32 men and 16 women advance. Maltais was second and Ricker fifth among women. Robanske was the fastest man with Fagan third and Hill 16th. Lake Louise is a rare race close to home for Robanske, who learned to snowboard at Calgarys Canada Olympic Park at the age of nine. He crashed in Montafon and is racing with injured soft tissue in his right elbow. "What we do is extreme and injuries happen," Robanske said. "If anything, its kind of an advantage for me. I put less pressure on myself when I have something wrong or somethings not working. I think Im going to have a good day tomorrow." Ricker has achieved the pinnacle of her sport, but she doesnt see Sochi as a place where she cant do better than she did in Vancouver. "I dont think about that at all," she said. "If youre thinking about that then maybe youre kicking yourself in the butt. "The big thing that most of us are looking for is that feeling of the perfect run where everything comes together. I really hope its going to produce a good result, but one thing I definitely realized in Vancouver was it was the whole journey leading up to that day and thats sort of where Im at right now." Michel Briere Jersey . The Toronto Blue Jays star won his second consecutive Hank Aaron Award as the most outstanding offensive performer in the AL on Monday after votes by fans and a panel of Hall of Famers were tallied. Behind the talents of rookie Johnny Gaudreau, the Flames will look to keep pace Thursday night when they face the Minnesota Wild in the second of a six-game homestand. http://www.penguinsauthenticofficial.com/kris-letang-jersey/ . Ontario Superior Court Case Management Master Ronald Dash released the decision on Monday, saying John McCaw Jr. must testify in front of a jury by live video conference. Moores lawyer, Tim Danson, asked the court to compel McCaw - who is based in Seattle - to testify in the case back on February 27.ST. LOUIS - This World Series, like many before it, is chock full of fun storylines. Theres David Ortiz, hitting .667 with two home runs and four walks in 16 plate appearances. If the Red Sox win this thing, hes surely the MVP of this Fall Classic. How about the Cardinals Allen Craig, hobbling around on essentially one foot and having not played a game since his injury, returning for the Series and immediately shaking off the rust to the tune of four hits in eight at-bats? He also scored a big run in Game 3, if memory serves. St. Louis Carlos Beltran deserves credit for gutting through a rib injury suffered while making a heroic, over-the-wall catch to rob Ortiz of a grand slam in opener. Bostons Felix Doubront, with 4 2/3 innings of one run ball split over two nights, has served as a credible bridge between the Red Sox starters and late relievers. But what is standing out, like the proverbial sore thumb, are the mistakes being made at crucial times in games. "We saw things that didnt quite look right but, once again, this is a game that has humans involved and there are going to be errors," said Cardinals manager Mike Matheny. "Its just going to happen and weve got to figure out how to minimize them as much as we can and get ahead of them." Red Sox manager John Farrell prefers to look ahead. "Theres been a lot of uniqueness to this entire postseason, not just this series," said Farrell. "When you consider how closely games have been played, whether its been Divisional Series in both leagues, Championship Series in both leagues, I cant imagine Major League Baseball wanting anything more than whats taken place on the field." Pete Kozma had a first game to forget. He dropped a Matt Carpenter throw to start a would-be inning ending double play, resulting in a bases loaded, one out situation for the Red Sox. Boston would score three times in that first inning. Kozma hadnt settled down by the second. With two on and one out, he couldnt corral a Shane Victorino chopper, again resulting in a bases loaded situation for thhe Red Sox. Carter Rowney Jersey. . Boston would score twice more, lead 5-0 after two innings and would go on to win 8-1. The shoe was on the other foot in Game 2. The Red Sox led 2-1 in the seventh when the Cardinals Matt Carpenter hit a bases loaded sacrifice fly to left field to bring home the tying run. Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia couldnt handle the throw from left fielder Jonny Gomes and it was a good thing pitcher Craig Breslow was backing up. A good thing, until Breslow tried to throw out base runner Jon Jay trying for third. He hurled the ball into left field, Jay scored the go-ahead run and St. Louis went on to win the game 4-2. Game 3 ended with an obstruction call against Boston third baseman Will Middlebrooks. It was Saltalamacchias errant throw during the play, however, which created the awkward situation between Middlebrooks and base runner Craig. Provoking eerie memories of Breslow two nights before, Saltalamacchia attempted to throw Craig out at third after he tagged out Yadier Molina trying to score. It was another ill-advised mistake and St. Louis took the series lead with a 5-4 win. Then, in Game 4, while it wasnt the reason the Cardinals lost, Boston closer Koji Ueharas pick-off of pinch runner Kolten Wong at first base for the final out was stunning. At the very least, the play took the bat out of Carlos Beltrans hands; he was up as the potential tying run in a 4-2 game. The strategies of both managers, too, have come into question, particularly Farrells in Game 3 and Mathenys in Game 4. Playing under National League rules, with the increased usage of bench players, pinch hit scenarios and defensive replacements via double switches, opens the door to greater scrutiny. For both teams, there can be no looking back. Down to a best of three, the club which wins the required two likely will be the one that makes the fewer number of mistakes. Sloppiness will be costly. "It hasnt been typical for our style of play," said Matheny. "But were still figuring out a way to get past it and getting ready for the next one." FOXBOROUGH, Mass. Reggie Jackson Jersey . -- In packed stadiums, Tom Brady had one of his worst statistical seasons. Behind the scenes, hes working hard to have a better one. And, more importantly, carry the New England Patriots further -- to the Super Bowl -- than they went last season. Brady has heard coach Bill Belichick stress throughout their 14 full seasons together "that whatever matters to you as an individual, its far distant from what the team goals are," the quarterback said Monday. Achieving those goals is a year-round pursuit with intense off-season preparation setting the stage for the regular season. "What youre trying to establish this time of year is what kind of team youre going to be," Brady said during the Patriots third week of organized team activities. "Whos willing to put it all on the line when theres really no glory in this. Theres no glory in an OTA practice. Theres no glory in the weight room or out there on the conditioning field, but itll show up at some point. "Its a long season, so, at some point, the mental toughness, the discipline of the team always shows up and those are the things that were trying to work on." Last season, Brady was 17th in the NFL in passer rating, 21st in completion percentage, 22nd in average gain per pass attempt and 11th in touchdown passes. Of course, Wes Welker left before the season for the Denver Broncos, Aaron Hernandez was charged with first-degree murder last summer and Rob Gronkowski was limited by injury to seven games. The Patriots leading returning receiver was Julian Edelman, and he had just 21 catches in 2012. He followed that with 105 receptions in a breakout season, but the rest of the receiving group suffered from injuries and inexperience. The only significant addition to the group is Brandon LaFell, who had a career-high 49 catches in his fourth NFL season last year with Carolina. "Theres always ways to find improvement," Brady said after posing for photos with winners of the 2014 Myra Kraft Community MVP awards in honour of team owner Robert Krafts late wife. "Youre always working with lots of other guys. So its not necessarily just my improvement, but how my improvement relates to the rest of the team. And we all change from year to year." Receivers Danny Amendola, Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins are entering their second season with the Patriots. Brady is starting his 15th and wants to play as long as possible. "The thing that Ive learned over the years is youve got to pay the price in advance," he said. "You just cant run out on the field and expect things to be better without putting the time in and extra effort. I try to be really consistent and dependable for our guys, and I think thats what the quarterback position needs to be." The Patriots won their fifth straight AFC East title last season and 10th in the past 11. But Brady was outplayed by Peyton Manning in the AFC championship game. Denver won 26-16 as the Patriots made it nine straight seasons without a Super Bowl title. The off-season intensity increases next week with a three-day minicamp followed by training camp next month. For Brady, theres no time to waste. "I dont think theres any time that we come out of a meeting thinking, Man, were great. Weve got everything figured out. Its really a time of year where youre going to make a lot of mistakes," he said. "Youre going to give great effort and youre going to fail and then youve got to gain trust in each other and become more consistent." Then, after speaking with reporters for nearly 10 minutes, Brady was eager to return to work. "Back to practice," he said with a big smile. Tensions rose in the first period when Penguins defenceman Brooks Orpik hit Bruins forward Loui Eriksson with what appeared to be a clean hit.TORONTO – When this season, which is all but certain to end with the ball club missing the playoffs for a 20th consecutive time, is over, it will be time for the Toronto Blue Jays to consider trading Jose Bautista. Before we break down the reasons why, its important to clear up potential confusion and dispel the possibility of misinterpretation. This is not about Bautistas crucial sixth-inning ejection from Sundays loss to Tampa Bay, a defeat which involved Bautistas replacement in right field, Nolan Reimold, misplaying a routine flyball in the 10th, leading to the Rays go-ahead run, and then striking out in the afternoons final at-bat. This is not about Bautistas on-field production or his daily preparation and work ethic. These areas, if not impossible, are difficult to criticize. This, certainly, is not about Bautistas leadership. Its not about whether Bautista is a leader or is not a leader and its not about whether or not leadership matters in baseball. Re-read the previous paragraph; Bautista produces, prepares and works hard. What this is about is the direction in which the franchise is headed and whether keeping its superstar player, who will be 34 years old on October 19, is in the clubs best interest. With Sundays incident serving as the framework for the conversation, Bautista held court before Mondays tilt with the Red Sox and had this exchange with Richard Griffin of the Toronto Star. Question: "Do you and Alex (Anthopoulos) have an understanding and a special relationship that doesnt need constant conversation to understand each other? Bautista: "I think so." Question: "And its all about winning?" Bautista:"To who? To me, yes. To him, youd have to ask him that." Question: "Has your perception of his dedication to winning changed in the last year?" Bautista: "No. I think he wants to win. I think hes fully committed to winning." Question: "Has your perception of the organizations dedication to winning changed?" Bautista: "I dont have enough information to answer that question." There remains a contingent of players in the clubhouse who are lesss than enthused with the organizations relatively quiet approach to the non-waiver trade deadline. Matt Joyce Jersey. The lack of activity didnt jibe with the message delivered by team president Paul Beeston at the annual end of spring training banquet, when players were told if they were a winning, contending outfit in July, the payroll budget would accommodate player additions. Bautista and Casey Janssen were two veterans who, on July 31 in Houston, publicly voiced their displeasure. Janssen likely is gone. Bautista is still under contract for two more seasons. Hes guaranteed $14-million next year. Theres a club option, at the same dollar figure, for 2016. What that means is Bautista is an attractive chip on the market. His .284/.399/.500 line is elite – that .399 on-base percentage continues to be the best mark in baseball among qualified hitters. Why does it make sense to deal Bautista? The Blue Jays starting rotation is turning a youthful corner. Soon it will be made up of Marcus Stroman, Aaron Sanchez, Drew Hutchison and Daniel Norris. The positional roster is built to win now. You could argue the positional roster is beyond its ability to win, past its prime. Centrefielder Dalton Pompey is the only positional prospect of consequence playing higher than Single-A. Hes currently at Triple-A Buffalo. Its time for the Jays to supplement the young pitchers with a more youthful positional corps. The way to do that is to take the best asset, Bautista, and use his prodigious productivity and cheap contract to secure a haul. Not that the players interest is considered in these matters, but Bautista is deserving of an opportunity to play playoff baseball before Father Time catches up to him. With the rotation projected to be so young next year, the opportunity isnt going to come here. To be clear, Anthopoulos shouldnt trade Bautista for the sake of trading Bautista. If the right deal comes along, Anthopoulos absolutely should pull the trigger. This team, this core, has had two shots at making it work. It hasnt worked. This offseason, the time will come to be open-minded about trading the Blue Jays best player. FRISCO, Texas - The Vancouver Whitecaps might have watched their playoff chances melt away in the heat of a stifling Texas night. Greg Holland Jersey . In a matchup of teams battling head-to-head for the final playoff spot in Major League Soccers Western Conference, the Whitecaps run to the post-season took a hard hit when FC Dallas blew open a tie game with two goals in the final minutes for a 3-1 victory Saturday night. The win pushed Dallas (10-7-10) into playoff position, pending the result of late matches involving Colorado and Portland. The Whitecaps, meanwhile, dropped to 10-10-7 and stand seventh in the West with seven games to go. The top five teams earn playoff berths. Vancouvers next two matches, against San Jose and Montreal, are both on the road, where the Whitecaps are 2-8-3 this season. "We need to win on the road," goalkeeper Davis Ousted said. "We have two more away games now and we need to get at least one win. It was tough tonight. I think we deserved more than we got … we played a good game but we got punished by some incredible goals." All three of Dallas strikes were of the highlight-reel variety, and none was prettier than the winner. With the clock winding down and both teams desperate to pick up three points, Dallas took control with counterattack. Eric Hassli picked up a free ball at the top of the box and fed speedy forward Fabian Castillo, who beat Vancouvers Nigel Reo-Coker to the end line on the left. Castillos cross found streaking midfielder Mauro Diaz, who caught it right in stride and blasted a brilliant right-footed volley for a 2-1 lead in the 87th minute. "It was counter-attacking football at its best," Reo-Coker said. "It was top quality. They scored three fantastic goals and sometimes theres nothing you can do about that." Dallas put the game away in the 89th minute, when defender Jair Benitez, with space in the midfield area, took two steps across the centre stripe, saw Ousted positioned far out of his goal and let fly from 50 yards with his left foot. Ousted raced back and leaped to stop the ball, but it soared over his outstretched hand and into the top right corner of the net. "Its a great goal from his side but obviously Im not happy with my role in it," Ousted said. "I need to be quicker back and defending my goal. I was looking to stay high and maybe get the pass in deep, but he just hit it amazingly." Added Whitecaps coach Martin Rennie: "(Benitez) could try that 100 times and its not going to go in again." The rough finish offset an uncharacteristic flying start for the Whitecaps, who had given up goals in the first three minutes in each of their previous two games. In the fourth minute, Camilo Sanvezzo started an exquisite sequence of passes by deftly dropping the ball to Kenny Miller in the right corner. Miller followed with a perfect cross that hit charging midfielder Daigo Kobayashi right in stride for a tap-in goal and a 1-0 lead. But it didnt last long. Just four minutes later, FC Dallas midfielder Je-Vaughn Watson tied it up after taking a seemingly innocuous pass on the left wing from Fabian Castillo. Given time and space by the soft Vancouver defence, Watson launched a 25-yard rocket that slipped just under the crossbar and past Ousteds fingertips. While Dallas dominated possession from that point and had several near misses, Vancouvers defence held firm despite the recorded 38-degree C heat at FC Dallas Stadium — until the final minutes. "Youre climatizing to different climates, different temperatures," Reo-Coker said. "Were not used to this heat and humidity. So we had to come up with a game plan. We had to be compact, tight, difficult to beat and play on the counterattack. "We did that, but they were the better team. They scored three fantastic goals and deserved to win." The result is an uphill fight for the Whitecaps as they try to remain in playoff contention. "Weve got a climb to get up there but I still feel like well get there," Rennie said. "Weve been here before. It was a tough struggle to get there last year and it will be this year. Its very close … I dont think it hurts our confidence. I just think its something we have to get over quickly." Reo-Coker said the Whitecaps mind-set is to do exactly that. "The saying goes, if youre going through a hole, just keep on going," he said. "Its as simple as that. At the moment were going through a little bit of a difficult patch. "Eventually well come out of this." DJ LeMahieu Jersey .
