Bittersweet and horrendous are pretty good terms to describe it... if you don't like those kinds of feels, stay the heck away from it! Although, I must say that the overall vibe in most scenes is rather peaceful. Nevertheless, the disturbance of that peace by the stark contrast of certain other chapters of the story makes the darker parts seem even more messed up.

Then again, if a work of art actually manages to produce to produce any kinds of strong sympathetic feelings within you, it should be considered a pice of art, no matter how negatively connoted those feelings may seem at first glance.

Abyss has some pretty emotional and gut wrenching scenes, but those are the reason why the series as a whole strongly stands out from many other shows.

Is anyone watching Made in Abyss? I really love the style of that show and the last episode was pretty intense.

Yeah, Rem's development does seem a little retarded from a distanced viewpoint... but I guess most waifu material is based on rather unrealistic characters who undergo a questionable development. There aren't many anime which do it right, so at the moment only Toradora comes to my mind when I try to think of a comprehensible hype for a female character. Although, the general rule seems to be - the more messed up, the better (Lucy, Yuuno Gasai, Watamote etc.)

It probably is on MAL... like every new good thing that comes out and remains something that only a minority of supporters has the chance to witness, automatically making it more precious to those who have watched it.

Butye, the chinese hardsubs and disclaimers suck dick. I am just an impatient cunt who doesn't have the decency to wait, but I don't really recommend it. The rip of the third Madoka movie was worse, tho, so fuckitmayne. I'm used to the abuse.

It's kind of a shame that anime still hasn't reached the major theatre industry overseas... The market for it certainly does exist and as far as I'm concerned, they already showed this movie at some event with English subs, so the work has already been done. And the statistics of the Japanese box office sales prove its potential. Of course, you can hardly compare Japan to the rest of the world when it comes to animation and its fanbase, but I'm pretty sure it would still work out pretty damn well. What's the problem with marketing it?

As for the 3rd arc problem - I didn't really notice it in this one... then again, I didn't really notice it in 5cms either, so that might just be me...

Old news to the real nerds, but let's have a discussion thread anyway.
A new movie by Makoto Shinrai (whom some of you might already know for 5 Centimeters per Second and Garden of Words) has lately been rocking the box office in Japan and there already are watchable versions online (even though I must warn you upfront that these versions are yet crammed with watermarks and disclaimers which might reduce the enjoyment, so if you are picky about that, you might want to wait a bit longer).

On Myanimelist, the movie has rocketed straight to rank #1, but as of yet, I think that most of those who have seen the movie might be diehard fans of the director anyway, so embrace for a wave of haters calling it overrated...

The movie is about a girl and a boy who randomly wake up in one another's bodies over a certain period of time, and decide to search for each other when the reoccurring body-swaps suddenly stop. The film captures the spirit of the director's works quite well in my opinion and tells its story in an interesting and very emotional way.
The animation and the art are gorgeous as always and storytelling-wise people already compare it to some of the highly acclaimed works of studio Ghibli.

I personally enjoyed it a lot and think that it might become one of those few little gems in my collection of Chinese girl cartoons which is definitely worth watching.

But what really interests me is what you guys think about the film. Have you known about the release of this movie and if so, have you been looking forward to it? If so, what expectations did you have and what did you like and dislike about the movie?

It was pretty solid when it started and I loved the middle part, but the ending was simply rushed as dicks and they paid too much attention to scenes which could have been shortened to explain some of the asspulls. I don't even mind asspulls as long as they are explained, but this shit, boy, was just... nah! It feels like they want you to read the novel to understand what the fuck is going on and why the fuck it is going on...

In general, it just feels like a waste to not even mention certain other characters anymore after building them up so well in the mid-episodes. MAL had Rem listed as a main character for a while, but for some reason, they changed that back.

When shit was going down at the beginning of the third arc, I actually imagined the show to become much darker, with shit like sexual obligations of servants to their masters and Rosewell supporting Emilia for the sole reason of wanting to be the king on her side/being horny for her, already having made a contract for an arranged marriage, breaking Subaru's miserable little heart and rape and boners and dicks and... this is way too fucking speciffic, I know. But the scenes with Rosewell and Ram in the second arc did seem kind of questionable, yet, again, none of it was explained! And then you suddenly have those moe chibi cat things, riding the wolf and the trap cat knight, becoming the internet's cumbucket replacement for rem and everything working out way too well without ANY kind of conflict or suspense! It was just disappointing!

I mean, we have an entire universe that has its very own rules in regards to society and a very dark premise... and yet, in the end it just feels like another swort art online bullshit thing, with the guy jumping on the carriage and saving the day like a faggot! Not even the goodamn Yoshi thing died! Where is my precious despair?

But yeah... to be a bit more serious about this: The ending simply felt rushed and forced to me, I barely felt any conflict or suspense in the final episodes and I must say that the show as a whole, for some reason, turned from very dark and intriguing to very corny and generic.

Worst ending of an overall pretty entertaining show in a while...
I really liked this anime for its mid-part when everyone was dying left and right and the main guy really struggled with himself to move on, but at some point it completely lost its punch... the final fights didn't really feel thrilling to me or dangerous for the cast anymore, but what bothered me the most was the high amount of plot holes towards the end of the show.
Did they explain where he got that fireball thing that he threw at the sloth priest in the first fight or what exactly he did to avoid becoming possessed or what exactly he did with the book to finish the guy off? And even more importantly: How did he know that it would work? Where did he get the information? Did I miss something or is it simply impossible to follow for someone who hasn't read up on the details from the novel?

Many other things felt incredibly rushed, like the special skill of the merchant or the end of the episode itself... it feels like so much is missing... many of the other important characters are not even shown or mentioned anymore. Yet, everyone is alive and happy and the mood just seems all too well, considering how many things are yet a mystery to the hero.
None of the initial questions from the beginning of the show were explained even remotely. We still have no idea why and how the main guy was transported to the world and what his purpose might be... Other characters such as Puck just became more and more suspicious towards the middle, but those incidents seem to have been forgotten completely and are not even questioned by the main guy.

The way this show ended was rather disappointing to me and felt even more out of place than a forced cliffhanger. I guess they simply wanted to "conclude" it to make it work even as a standalone if the Discs don't sell, but the way they ended it simply felt very unfitting and unsatisfying to me.
Sup fags  :slut:

Just dropping by because I figured you would still be the same bunch of anime enthusiasts that I remember and because I thought you would probably be in a heated debate about one of last seasons most hyped shows that has actually continued throughout the summer season. To be honest, I am really surprised that it hasn't even been mention yet, so I will just leave this here:

Rem is love, Rem is life!

In other words: Hi, I'm still alive and it seems like my waifu taste has become quite generic. Also Re:Zero is pretty good.

I have started watching this show recently after remembering that most of you really liked it. Can't believe that it's still not finished yet. I have more or less caught up by now and I really enjoyed it so far. Anyone else hype for the upcoming finale or have you more or less lost interest over the years?

The Chinese Cartoons are pretty wacky. Thanks for your advice! I kinda ended up screwing around with my mopho for the past hours and found an Android version of Cisco on Zippy share via Yahoo. Now I can legally connecti via my German uni's vpn proxy thing.
The only thing I still gotta get used to is my damn phone's auto correcting function...

Yo guys,
I have just startend my Chinese vacation a couple of days ago. I'm in Shanghai atm and the city is pretty fascinating in both positive and negative ways. The nightlife oder here is pretty insane. Free entrance and booze at nightclubs for westerner with the right connections and really noble locations
The city itself is rather modern for Chinese standards, but there's still a lot to discover. Gonna Upload some pics and a slightly more detailed description of my journey later on, but right now, I have some issues.

The worst thing about this journey clearly is the limited internet access. My travel Group wanted to make some regular updates on facebook, but the social networks aren't the only websites weich are blocked oder here. Pretty much anything connected to Google doesn't work oder here. This is not only include stuff like youtube as well as the seach Engineering itself, but also any services provided by it, such as Maps and Google Play. To cut a long Story Sport, I am currently looking for a way to temporarily bypass the ban. One of my Plans is using my university networks via cisco, but unfortunately I don't have the app on my phone and I can't get it without Google play. Do you have any suggestions or experience of your own with this kind of problem?

Yuuki Waifu Haruhi Spinoff with Pussy Kyon: http://myanimelist.net/anime/26351/Nagato_Yuki-chan_no_Shoushitsu
I am very excited and skeptical at the same time about this one... could turn out to be really cute and fun, could as well turn out to be rather bland, lacking the spice that one would expect from the Haruhi franchise. Definitely gonna check it out, tho.

Magical Girl Alien Club Animu: http://myanimelist.net/anime/17919/Houkago_no_Pleiades_(TV)
This thing is made by Gainax and directed by the same guy who did FLCL. Probably gonna give it a shot only to drop it after a couple of episodes because it's gonna suck dick... but hey, hope dies last!

Kyoani Girls Blowing Big Horns and Probably Doing Cute Things Too: http://myanimelist.net/anime/27989/Hibike!_Euphonium
The next big thing after... K-On? Fuck... it's been a while... I don't have very high hopes for this because the genre has simply been sucked dry, but I've generally made better experiences with music anime than I initially expect, so I will probably give this one a shot.

Fate Stay Fucking Night 2nd Gig: http://myanimelist.net/anime/28701/Fate/stay_night:_Unlimited_Blade_Works_(TV)_2nd_Season
Ok, let's just hope that things get more interesting from this point on...

There are a couple of others which catch my eye, but I gotta give them a closer look...
