I don't want to get into specifics, but I used to work for a mining company in Cornflake, Arkansas. It was your standard run down outfit left on its last legs by an unlucky combination of new labor legislation and budget cuts. But I was shocked most of all by the state of the restrooms. Each door of the toilet stalls had been sawed in half, revealing the upper part of each occupant while they did their business. It was gross. A gallery of sweaty, discolored, straining faces would stare back at you as you walked through the restroom to just take a leak or wash your hands.

When I asked the staff about the doors, they told me that one particular sick fuck kept drilling holes in the stall walls. He would sit in the stalls throughout the day, spying on miners who were shitting. If he had a miner next to him and he was absolutely certain the rest of the bathroom was empty, he would ejaculate into the neighboring stall using the gloryhole he had drilled. The miners were always caught in the middle of shitting and couldn't chase him down so the homo was never caught. Since this was Cornflake Arkansas, the management decided not to install security cameras just outside the bathroom, and instead opted to cut the toilet doors in half so no one could masturbate or peep in total seclusion.

After a couple of weeks and many, many complaints, the management were starting to reconsider. Still and all, they were worried, as they hadn't IDed the sicko and brought him in. At this point it's worth keeping in mind that the mine building had those thin, cheap styrofoam ceilings (think of the crappy ones in school classrooms you can push up with a broom handle) and the walls climbed as high as them and then stopped. This meant there was a hidden passage running between all the rooms you could reach if you climbed above the ceiling. (A little side note: if you ever have to stay a night in a hotel with those ceilings and feel brave, do a little searching above the foam tiles running along the nearby rooms. In the case that it's an "open ceiling" and there's no wall dividing the two rooms, you can find all kinds of weird stuff passed between them (porno mags, bags of weed, condoms). I've personally seen this more than a few times in the Mid-West, but not so much in Arkansas, so you can imagine what happened here stuck in my memory.)

Anyhow, back to the story: one day while a miner was showering, a skinny, scab-ridden white dude fell through through the tile ceiling into the shower. The miner freaked the hell out and ran nude into the bathroom hall. But he quickly realized what was up and began beating the shit out of the f****t. The two were soaked and covered in dust and grime from the broken ceiling panels. A few more miners held down the f*g for the cops to come get him (but he was probably enjoying that). It soon turned out that the perv would head into the shower block late at night when it was understaffed. He'd climb up above the ceiling when nobody was looking and spend the whole day jerking off and peeping at miners while they shat and showered. When the owners finally cleaned out his den up there they found tons of syringes, jizzrags, cigarette ends and food wrappers. From the amount of trash that was cleaned out they estimated he had been holing up there for months on end.

Maybe it's just because of my Japanese heritage, but his talk of extreme bigotry, openly calling for minorities to be beaten at his rallies, calls for databases, torture, approval of internment camps, murder of families of suspected terrorists, expansion of libel laws to eliminate all criticism, etc. make me a bit uneasy about that kind of bullying asshole being president. Maybe I'm not brown enough to be first against the wall, but the excessive anti-immigrant preaching of someone who refused repeatedly to disavow endorsements from the grand wizard of the KKK (an organization that his father was a member of) doesn't make me feel good about the future of this country or the safety of my mother and most of my friends.

Presidential power has been growing the past seven years due to a stagnant congress, and if you don't believe a president trump will executive order the living shit out of everything possible, you're fooling yourself.

lol

Because pride doesn't make sense to me as something to have about something into which you've put no effort. If my sister were to bake a delicious cake and give it to me for free I'd certainly be happy about it. Why on Earth would I be proud? I don't really understand the rest of your point.

false analogy because the cake is ephemera and not the homeland that has housed and fed your people for thousands of years. yall solipsistic af

I voted for legalisation of gay marriages in Ireland because I understand the concept behind being a decent person, which again has nothing in the world to do with being proud of being Irish.

and i voted against it on account of understanding being a good catholic which i'm pretty sure even in these spiritually malnourished times carries more weight than being a good SWPL. as always i recommend cracking some good philosophy books to banish harm-based morality from your mind. c ya.

Any patriotism we have up north isn't born of being proud of our country, rather from hating the English because of what their ancestors did.

if care/harm morality was the only compulsion fueling their nationalism they wouldn't have vetoed gay marriage 4 times... niggas is traditionalist as fuck and genuinely love their land and people

Though the self-loathing is more significant in my case than most (to unhealthy degrees, I'm very aware), it's probably ironic that this is apparently a very Irish attitude that I hold: being proud of your ethnicity or nationality or genetics or upbringing or gender or age or disposition towards being social doesn't make any sense and please stop it.

Your other points are too vague to argue with. I kind of wanted examples.

that's because - like always - he's in over his head and doesn't understand what he's trying to argue. that's why he bowed out at the end of his post so you couldn't corner him for specifics. he does it every time he realizes he's wrong. not the worst way of minimizing damage to a fragile ego.. maybe he learned it from trump

and maybe u learned to spout half brained insults and act like arguing is beneath u from jew liebowitz pal
that would make you the hypocrite. i'm still waiting for your reply on what exactly you meant by kitsch and how you define art. surely you meant niche? do you believe you know what is and isn't art? are you going to tell me you read it in a book once so it must be true? that seems to be your defense in any situation where you can't properly vocalize your position.

i actually borrow my definition of kitsch from mid-20th c musicologist carl dahlhaus... his collected musings are noice and come highly recommended

"Somewhat surprised/disappointed by the dynamic duo's siding with the SJW on this one."

authoritarianism isn't SJW and i don't side with them on account of their many dumbass beliefs. try again pal (and maybe read some good philosophers like plato who speak of the importance of the state and lawful authority)

"When was the last time something was produced in any medium that couldn't be described as "kitsch" or "not art" by some metric? Certainly not in my lifetime."

when it wasn't produced to appeal to a target demo to maximize profit by an amoral corporation perhaps

"When has defending censorship ever been historically vindicated?"

often... esp when it involves removing harmful components like porn, violence and nazi propaganda. see ya.

which makes them not art but a kitsch product and not worth stressing about the censorship of. see ya.
