edit: alright, looks like this is pretty popular. here are a few guidelines and rules for when we do this:

- listen to your team captain
- don't argue with teammates. if they piss you off just mute them and listen to the captain
- if you don't get in the game when we start, you will be replaced by an able player
- pick the class that you sign up as
- have fun and kick ass

hey guys i wanted to try an experiment. i've been hearing (actually i just heard it from rtil) that some people are interested in trying highlander mode for the tf2 server one of these days so i had an idea.

explanation: highlander mode is a mode in which 9 people per team can play, and there can only be 1 person per class. in other words, no doubles, no triples, no teams full of snipers or kamikaze pyros, just people playing their favorite classes and playing the roles in each team they were meant to play.

due to the tactical nature of this mode, i was thinking it'd be a cool idea to have a full game sometime with designated leaders, alltalk off, maybe some reserved slots and some of the coolest maps out there (i'm thinking frontier). off the top of my head i was thinking some good possible captains could be ropesnake, ashington, isabella or zappy-tan because well they all kill everything and people kind of follow them already anyway. don't take it too seriously, i'm just recommending them because they're good, im not obliging anyone to doing anything here

a lot of people are good at certain classes and really cling to specific ones or can only play them, so i thought this would be pretty fun for people. it'd rely specifically on good teamwork and not as much on which team is stacked full of spies or which team had more medic heavy combos. our only hangup is that we don't have an 18-slot server, but i heard the cost difference was only like $2 and admins were considering this anyway, so if we do this, i'd totally donate $2 if people wanted me to so we can see how it went. who knows, it might be fun to have this occasionally, just as a thing we do sometimes if it works out. i'm all for it, i personally love strategy and maybe some of you guys do too

now that that textwall is out of the way, in the event that people want to give it a try, here's a potential signup list. lemme know what you guys think/want. if we do this routinely, each week should have a different signup so people can sign up for different classes and the leaders can change

Some people may not be able to play during the event if it goes down, so it's a good idea to have people who would willingly join in as backups. Mainly for people who didn't make it to the list in time. Attributed in color or preferred classes based on what they'd sub in for in-case anyone can't attend.

yesterday. i'm all set to go but i want a full list of who else from here is going, im worried it's going to be like 3 of you or something

rules:

- you can take up to 1 week to do your part. originally it was 3 days, but yeah, people have shit to do and i don't want to press too much. plus i already let redm cheat the 3 day rule, so let's just make it like this; you can take 1 week to do a minimum of 1 page and a maximum of as much as you can do. if you need a deadline extension, ask me, but you need to either be publicly or privately showing some progress. but either way, try to get each part done as soon as possible, if you have something basic that doesn't need a week of work, don't take a whole week to work on it.

- try to keep the continuity and maintain the status quo. i'm not trying to make this mega serious and it can kinda make fun of itself but i wanted to make this a pretty cool, fun project, and i think some of the people working on this do too. if anyone fucks up the continuity/messes up the story you can ignore some of the stuff they put in theirs as long as you give a decent explanation or something

- if the plot gets messed up or people are taking too long to do their stuff, i'll re-continue the plot and pass it off to someone who'll actually get their shit done. if someone keeps showing examples of not finishing shit on time or act like dicks about it then they'll get kicked out very quickly

- if you want to develop your character more and not leave everything up to the artists that the comic gets passed to, just ask and you're free to make a sub-plot to work further on your character development. storytelling is fun and sometimes you might want to (understandably) write out separate plots to show off your character's personality or develop them further instead of wait 9 billion years for someone to pass the main comic to you resulting in you only getting control for a week. my only requests with that are...

a. please don't interfere with the main plotline. i.e. don't 'steal' characters who are "on-screen" in the main plot
b. you have to draw it or have someone else draw it. it's not a comic if you don't draw it !!!

personally i want to make subplots because having started this thing, it probably won't get back to me for a while unless we get a bit derailed. so, you'll probably see subplot examples from me if you still don't get what i'm talking about.

the other day we were talking in a skype chat and i thought of a silly idea

this idea was to make a casual pass-around comic about tba people, somewhat similar to the universes displayed in other comics like lenko's "donnington creek" comic and rtil's hentai high thing, only the idea was to put everyone in a typical generic anime school setting. if you don't know what i'm talking about or you don't want to join in, don't respond to this thread

here's the gameplan:

objective: we're making an endless-possibility comic poking fun at/embracing silly anime cliches, creating a continuing story about everyone here on tba in a school. after all, what's a GREAT anime without school? who doesn't love school right???

plotline: EVERYONE ON TBA IS IN A SCHOOL AND WE ALL HAVE POWERS OR SOMETHING ISN'T THAT GREAT

procedure: i'll do a few pages after i get a decent-sized pool of people who'd be down for this. then i'll tag someone. every person passed to thereafter will have 3 days to complete a minimum of 1 page to add on to the story. it will be an ENDLESS story in which we all FIGHT and share AWKWARD SITUATIONAL COMEDY. CAPS LOCK

management: this isn't an ANIGEN STUDIOS LTD project, just a thing i felt like starting. i'll take some degree of responsibility and keep an eye on the tagging and do my best to keep the comic from degenerating into shit but i'm not "running" this

the point: i thought it would be fun and would be a neat "art game". it's also fun to develop characters and since we as the tba people are kind of already characters, it'd be fun to see how that translated into some sort of anime

WHAT YOU CAN DO: first, sign up here. you can join as an artist or a writer but if you're a writer you'll have to get an artist looking for ideas and team up with them. protip: don't piss off whatever artist you team up with or they probably won't draw any of your ideas

9. pass it off to people who will be somewhat responsible and make something clever. we're not out to derail our own work for the sake of being ironic, we're out to be funny. if you're going to fuck something up at least make it humorous ok???
10. any characters who die can come back in a SURPRISE ANIME PLOT TWIST so keep that in mind
11. you can color your pages or leave them uncolored but like i said at least make sure there's some sort of effort in there
12. the characters are tba people. to keep shit less confusing. we all know each other but not necessarily all of each other's characters, and we in ourselves are characters so yea!
